The Mafia AdventureThe Secret Chambers - Fort WorthEscape roomIRLThe theming of the room is very cool and the puzzles were challenging, but the system we were given to use for hints was awful and the game master was pretty unenthusiastic. They gave us an iPad to use that just showed all the possible hints we would need based on the puzzle we were on. So basically you could pre see all of the puzzles and click on the one you’re on to get 2 possible hints. There were many times the hints from the iPads just weren’t helpful for what we were stuck on. We were suppose to be able to call out to a game master for help, but when we did that he took a while to respond. On top of that he was somewhat unenthusiastic compared to game masters in other rooms we’ve done. We read reviews on Morty before booking the room and no one mentioned an iPad system so not sure if they were just busy/short handed and had to use this system when normally they wouldn’t. On top of that, the last puzzle we did we had the correct code in but it just wouldn’t trigger the mechanism for the lock on a door. When we asked the game master he told us the code to put in and it matched what we had, but he just didn’t respond after that for a minute or two and suddenly the door unlocked. We’ve done the Secret Chambers in Arlington and loved it so we were surprised to not have had the same experience at the Fort Worth location. I think if we’d had a traditional game master and not the iPad system, it would have gone a lot better. The room was really cool and it had a fun ending. We’ll still be back to try other rooms, but I may try to pick rooms that for sure have a game master in the future
