Expedition Bigfoot: Shadows of the Forbidden Forest [prev.Expedition Bigfoot: The Last Message]The Great EscapeEscape roomIRLI had a great time in this room! Went with coworkers and had a blast. I thought the puzzles were fun and while there were some points where we hit some of those blockages where you're basically doing the right thing but need to be doing it in a slightly different manner (e.g. misreading a letter due to font) the GM was quick to set us on the right path without stepping in unnecessarily. They had a good mix of standard locks and tech locks, and it was fairly immersive. Some AI art which is a downside for me but it didn't take away from the experience. I didn't find it very scary but more fear-mindful people may want to proceed with caution there were a few elements designed to scare (usually I am too locked in on the puzzles to pay much mind to fear elements). I really liked the decor/ambience of the rooms and it definitely felt immersive. I would 100% recommend completing this room if you're in the area! Also had lots of beavers merch integrated into the room decorations which was fun to see as a recent grad lol
Operation: Pink Puffin [prev. Operation: Golden Puffin]Cannon Beach Escape RoomEscape roomIRLAn enjoyable room, low-tech, locks/keys/codes. I would note the puzzles are easy but enjoyable nonetheless. Completed as a trio, once as previous version (Golden Puffin) and once in the updated version with new puzzles (Pink Puffin). Suitable for families with young children but still was fun as an all-adult trio. Some AI art on the walls that did cheapen the experience for me, was sad to see that part. Game Master was perfectly lovely to us. I liked their system for identifying lock to key, allowed for more focus on the puzzles.
Grim Stacks: Books & BindingsPuzzle Effect - BendEscape roomIRLWasn't my favorite room. At times it felt like too much time was devoted to figuring out what was or wasn't a puzzle compared to completing the puzzles themselves. Overall puzzle design wasn't my favorite, they weren't all bad but weren't all winners for sure. Had strong aesthetic design though, very immersive.
Sherlock's MysteryEscape Tech - Downtown SalemEscape roomIRLOverall an enjoyable room! Medium-tech, single-room design-- it was fun to complete for sure! Had a party of four which felt like the right amount of people for the room. Flow-wise it was more free-form, non-linear, well conducted-- never felt like we were completely lost on where to go next except after we'd found the letter (GM didn't tell us-- potentially forgot? --what the endgoal number lock was, so since we were told our goal was to get the letter we weren't sure what to do once we had it) and GM jumped in with the light hints at good times to make sure we stayed in the proper direction. Their hint system is hints and clues are different-- hints are at discretion of GM and are more subtle, but you have 3 clues that are more direct and you can ask for them. We didn't need to use any clues and the hints were well timed and not too much at all. I would say this room is better for people more familiar with escape rooms though, as it does have some stuff that is less intuitive if you're not familiar with common elements.
Poe's LegacyExitus : Salem Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLI really enjoyed this room. I thought the puzzle design was solid, and it was a fun and immersive room with good reveals. Overall had a good time! I think this is by far the best room at the location. Not particularly difficult but very fun!
Escape from One-Eyed JackCannon Beach Escape RoomEscape roomIRLAn enjoyable low-tech room. For a low-tech room they had one fairly unique puzzle I really really liked! The difficulty was definitely notably easy, I would say suitable for families with young (like even age 7+) children. However, it was still fun and worth going even for a trio of adults! If you are adults, I would recommend keeping it to a small group since it was linear and low difficulty. Probably a good room for duos.
Operation TakeoutExitus : Salem Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLI agree with the masses-- this room was a miss. Difficult in an unfun way, iffy theming, and poor flow. I think if you're going to have symbol deciphering, those symbols should not be present all over the room without a clear indicator of when you're meant to decipher them.
Arctic OutbreakExitus : Salem Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLUnfortunately was not a fan of this room. One element of the room had significant mechanical issues that greatly disrupted our ability to complete it, had to have the GM override it for us. The puzzles ranged from "decent" to "ugh" in quality without any standouts. We completed it (group of 3 adults) but the thing that stood out most was the frustration of the poorly designed element. The flow/pacing wasn't great also. Atmosphere was good, but at what cost?
