41 escape rooms
Gameplay was solid. Not particularly difficult but the number of puzzles was seemingly endless. We hit their “escape threshold” before the halfway mark but continued to solve prestige-building bonus puzzles for the full hour. As a completionist, I have mixed feelings about this rest and go approach which I detail in the puzzle section of my review. Game was almost entirely lock-based and could be elevated with the addition of technical elements. Theming and story arc are immersive and extend across all of their games - creating a visually stunning and unique game experience. DMs were lovely. Great day, great room. We loved it.
Gameplay was solid - some puzzles laddering into others but most were standalone. No single puzzle was particularly difficult but the number of puzzles was too high for our group of three experienced players moving through at a respectable pace. Escape quest gives you a minimum threshold to solve in order to count as an escape and we achieved this before the halfway mark. The rest of the puzzles were for prestige only and we had mixed feelings about this approach. Pro: you basically get to fill your hour with nonstop puzzles even after you hit the win threshold. Con: you never really get to complete the game because there are seemingly endless bonus puzzles. This ultimately minimizes your sense of reward. We escaped quickly yet left puzzles unsolved - and that left me with a compromised sense of accomplishment. Did we win? Yes. Did we finish? No. I have no idea how to feel. Also worth noting, the game was lacking in technical puzzles and was almost entirely lock-based. I’d love to see them integrate a bit more imagination into their unlocks. At the end of the day it was a great time, we left impressed, and would definitely recommend.
This is where Escape Quest really shines. Visually the game is top notch, theming is fully immersive and absolutely charming. Everything in perfect condition.
The GMs were fantastic. They have a really cute system for clues should you need them.
Yes
Thematically, the game is extraordinary.
Their narrative is wonderful and extends across all of their games to form a cohesive story arc. The story is really well executed via the theming - but not integrated as much via the puzzles themselves.
Medium
Puzzles weren’t difficult but there are likely more than a small group can solve.
Very low tech.

Didn’t require a lot of communication as most puzzles were standalone. A group of 4-6 is probably right to hit all the puzzles in the space.
