Everyone wants their dream job, but there's Nuthin like working for the 'Family'! In 1971, located in Jersey City Giovanni’s Italian Deli was commandeered by the infamous Pantano Crime Family as payment for an outstanding gambling debt. Giovanni was allowed to keep running his business as the “acting owner” with the understanding that the Deli would now be one of the Family’s new offices and a front for laundering millions of dollars for the Pantanos. Since your induction into the family you’ve climbed the ranks quickly and have settled into your newly promoted roll as Consigliere or Chief Advisor to Don Dominico Pantano. This is the highest position you can attain without being directly related to the Pantano family. Today is a sad day…you’re attending Uncle Julio Fiorentino’s funeral. He was a beloved Capo from the East Side and there are hundreds in attendance. After the funeral you arrive at St. Vincent’s Hall and Underboss Micuzzu"The Butcher" Nicola instructs you to get back to Giovanni’s deli asap to pick up the food for the reception.

What a great experience! I’ve had this on my wishlist for a long time, and I am glad I finally had the opportunity to do it. The rooms were some of the largest I’ve ever seen. Theming was great and the gameplay was as well. Highly recommend.

For Sanctuary Escape, the rooms are designed to be fast-paced, with a constant emphasis on movement and action. While the themes are strong, it often feels like you would need more time to fully appreciate the experience. I heard from other return visitors that they should have booked two time slots as to not feel rushed. The decor and the puzzles are well done (in some rooms better than others), but paying too much attention to detail can actually slow you down in ways that work against the intended pace. The owner clearly takes pride in the rooms’ high fail rate, which says a lot about the challenge level. Personally, I prioritize atmosphere and experience and I found it interesting how interconnected the spaces were - often requiring team members to split up and communicate across different areas to progress. Ultimately, you can’t approach this venue like a traditional escape room. It’s better treated like a video-game speed run: move quickly, focus on progress, and save the appreciation of the set design for afterwards. La Famiglia specifically had a smell that made me nauseous afterwards. If you are also afraid of heights, there is one portion that requires climbing a set of stairs. My group played this room with an Italian accent the whole time, which made the whole experience a memorable one for us.

La Famiglia was a very solid room. Great progression and set design. Felt like we were never going to get to the end! Large sprawling sets, fun cinematic moments and good direction. Some puzzles felt frustrating and could have used more signposting. Various parts of the game felt unpolished and rushed, while other parts felt the opposite. Some puzzles were solved too early before they were supposed to be active in the story, leading to confusion. Be sure to bring your A game, this one is quite the epic adventure! Definitely not my favorite at Sanctuary, but the scale and sheer size of this ambitious game make it a definite good pick.

If every set were like this, escape rooms would be a crazy different experience

We LOVED how immersive this room was! It’s so creative and the puzzles were great! Our game master was Jaydon and he was a great help! We drove from DFW to come do these and it was so worth it! Definitely coming back 🎉
