Part escape room, part choose-your-own-adventure, completely unique. THE LADDER is a fully replayable immersive experience in which your choices and performance determine the outcome! Get ready to embark on a 50-year career at Nutricorp, an Omaha-based vitamin company with more than a few dark secrets to hide. Each room of The Ladder represents a decade—from the rockin’ 1950s to the less rockin’ 1990s—and features both scored games and puzzles. Your score will allow you to make certain choices (Wanna raise a family? Wanna hire a secretary?) while solving the super-tough and fully optional puzzles will grant you access to new parts of the story—and an entire bonus room. Featuring a 90-minute runtime, 5 playable avatars, 8 different sets, and nearly a dozen different endings, The Ladder has been designed to blow your mind not once, not twice, but as many times as you care to visit. Will you play as a hero or a villain? Will you make your first billion or wind up penniless? And did you ever figure out what was in that mysterious pneumatic capsule? Well, you know what they say: if at first you don’t succeed…you’re probably a talentless hack. Or maybe you should try again…

I really enjoyed this room! The structure was shocking in a good way. I definitely wish we had more time in some portions, but I love that you can never truly lose. There’s also plenty to do so it’s a good room to have a larger group in. Everyone can be a hero at some point. Our game master Anthony was also really lovely and gave us a little tour afterward which added to the spectacle.

This is a fun room. BUT you need to go into it with the expectation that this is not a regular escape room. You progress in a room every w 5 minutes regardless of whether or not you complete everything. And there are 2 options complete a linear puzzle flow that gives you more of the story, or play simpler, more repetitive type games to earn money. You "escape" if you earn 1 million dollars. You can not complete or see everything your first time around, and that is by design. Because this is a replayable room. If you go into it with that exception, then you should have a good time. Focus on one option. Making money or solving the story puzzles. And if you don't finish each room in time think of it as multiple individual mini escape rooms with one connected story.

Hatch Games is probably my favorite Escape Room company. This game is absolutely fantastic, because it's not only well decorated and on theme, but the re-playability is phenomenal. When you finish, they give you a receipt of your experience, and outline the different endings that you could play for--there are so many! Each of the decades/rooms has enough puzzles that I can see coming back and playing it over and over again, just to try out all the puzzles!

It's almost more a series of games than puzzles.

We got one of the medium endings. We didn't fail, but we could have done better.

There is definitely some intrigue, but it's not scary.

A couple of the stations in the final room (I think 2 of the 6 stations) were not working--but they had signs on them to indicate that they were not working.
No
The host of the game has a little speech at the beginning, but there are no actors throughout.

Easy to walk through--though there were puzzles where you had to lift light things and move them around the room.
There were steps up and down, and items that had to be lifted and moved around. Would be difficult for someone with vision loss and/or color blindness.

This one was a weird one for me in the best way possible. What do I mean? Let me explain. Let me start with things I wish I knew/understood going into this room. -the difficulty of the main story -the amount of people we should have walked in with. -the pacing of the room. 90mins will go by very fast, if you’re a small team and want the puzzle story, only focus on that, however there are so many different endings that it doesn’t really matter. Your first run just do what you wanna do and have fun with it! I’ll be honest in saying that while doing the room, while it is very cool I was a little put off. As somebody else mentioned this isn’t like Lab Rat and this isn’t an escape room really. For those reasons there are puzzles that you will not be able to complete. With that being said once we finished the game and I reflected on my experience the more I enjoyed it. I’m excited to go back and work toward a different ending. This room is a work of art and is a real life video game!
Games are fun, puzzles are interesting

An absolutely insane 90 minute escape room experience. I’m not even sure I’d call this an escape room. It’s more like an interactive video game with amazing sets, player decisions, time jumps, and a rich story. The Ladder truly feels like the pinnacle of escape room design to-date. I’m so lucky that I live in a city where I get to play this. I’ll definitely be back because of the replayability of this game. Ben was a fantastic host! His enthusiasm was infectious and we felt lucky to have him.

A few optional puzzles in the final room were broken but with so much to do, it did not detract from the experience. Also, the bonus room opens Aug 2024.

There were multiple colour puzzles, but each room has so much to do that I was able to self-select the puzzles I was able to contribute to as a colourblind person.

Incredibly ambitious Room that hits in some ways, misses in others. Overall, it’s probably a must do for any escape Room enthusiast simply from the perspective of checking out something holy unique and different. That said, as many others have pointed out, there are still many aspects of the room that do not work. Like either physically or they weren’t even active at all. The unique mechanism of the gameplay is certainly novel, though doesn’t necessarily leave the most satisfying and experience. The ability to get a unique story ending is very cool though. The variety set pieces was thrilling and fun. The role-play-game element was mostly cool, but other times was sort of distracting. Our group agreed that most of the time we would have preferred to simply continue with gameplay instead of forced to stop for narrative elements. The GM did the best they could making the on boarding fun, but the amount of information is overwhelming and tedious. Totally get there just trying to cover all the bases and fully explain how the game works, but there’s no getting around the fact that it’s all just a bit much. Complaints aside, this is a truly unique and impressive escape game experience. The price probably makes it prohibitive for most people to come back and play multiple times. I will probably be one of those weirdos who out of sheer curiosity will make it back to try puzzles I was not able to do and work towards a new ending. It’s definitely worth checking out!

It's challenging to pigeonhole The Ladder: escape room + immersive + choose your own adventure fit for multiple redos? I'll run myself ragged pondering it but basically, I loved the unique experience and had a great time with my crew so that's a thumbs up for me. Like any escape room, maybe you'll just have to go to decide for yourself...

More immersive experience than escape room. Multiple paths, ending in different routes. 10 different scenarios endings. Definitely in the replayable realm.

I’m gonna start by pointing out that Jack is an amazing GM & was very helpful in keeping us from frustration. When I played the beta there was no hint system, they have added hints. I love the janitor! I was very driven to see the story this time around and was very focused on solving that track. I was excited to see the story and have choices. I was a little disappointed that the final room still wasn’t in full working order, but it doesn’t really affect the game play too much I was just hoping to see all the games this time around.
