Awoken in complete darkness, trying to make out your surroundings, hearing the desperate screams of others. You are not alone in this hell hole. Uncovering your eyes from the hood adorned on you by your captor the room resembles an old, industrial slaughterhouse decorated with well-worn sadistic looking devices and make-shift recording equipment. The walls are stained with the splattered blood of the previous participants, those pre-destined to die at hands of The Tormentor. The air within permeates with the stench of death and disembowelment, catching in your throat you let out a loud cough. You hear a noise in the distance, he knows you are awake. A dozen screens line the wall before you, in the middle a menacing figure details the rules of the sick game you're about to partake in and the choices you will face. Your fates are tied with those around you and you must suffer the consequences of your actions. How do you weigh the value of one life above another?

If there was a ‘meh’ rating, I’d award it here. The game was ok but had various (body) parts recycled from when this was Motel so it didn’t feel overly exciting or new. We spent some of the time confused about what to do when- our brains clearly don’t think in the same way as the brain that envisioned this room and we had to ask for clues a few times. A couple of things didn’t work & it ruined the immersion a little being told over the intercom that we’d just killed someone & they’d left us a note with a code on it- why not pass us the code on a note?! This is another room that’s murky- ok if you have the eyes of an owl, but not so good if you have any sight issues. We enjoyed this more than Cartel (mainly because we could figure out some of what we were supposed to be doing) but this still didn’t reach the point where I’d say it was enjoyable for me. This was a disappointing visit to Trapp’d Corby as we’ve had some really good experiences there in the past & this just didn’t live up to our high expectations of them.

Stopcocks on pipes wouldn’t turn, pipes on that puzzle weren’t commented & some of the stickers were missing. When we queried it we were told that it didn’t really matter, if you couldn’t continue the pattern just randomly start again as if they saw you’d done something with it they’d activate the next bit of the game! 🙁 We needed to put a date code into the computer a second time & it didn’t give that option. After several minutes of floundering unable to figure out what to do next the lady told us to input it again & had to come into the room to rest the computer so we could do that, saying that’d never been an issue before so she didn’t know what’s gone wrong. She did at least tell us the info it’d have given us- but again it somewhat ruined the immersion.

They’ll appear at the door & bang on walls, but don’t try to grab you or get too close.
