OXENFREE is a supernatural thriller about a group of friends who unwittingly open a ghostly rift. You are Alex, and you’ve just brought your new stepbrother Jonas to an overnight island party gone horribly wrong. Play as Alex, a bright, rebellious teenager who brings her new stepbrother Jonas to an overnight party on an old military island. The night takes a terrifying turn when you unwittingly open a ghostly gate spawned from the island’s cryptic past. How you deal with these events, your peers, and the ominous creatures you’ve unleashed is up to you. YOU determine every aspect of Alex’s story while exploring Edwards Island, uncovering the base’s dark past, and changing the course of your friends’ lives.
350 escape rooms
Finally got around to playing Oxenfree in time for the sequel to come out on Nintendo Switch! I loved this experience. Although it isn’t really a traditional escape room game, it’s very much a compelling narrative adventure with some minimal puzzles. The choices matter, and I was invested to making a good timeline for Alex amongst the supernatural, kinda creepy stuff going on. The way the radio was used for puzzles and locks was a nice gimmick. And full voice-acting helped sell me on the characters and their plight on the mysterious island.
