Although NEW HORIZONS's official mission was to explore Pluto, it was part of a secret project known as "Deep Space," carrying a supercomputer programmed to search for and make contact with extraterrestrial life and transmit the information to NASA. In 2015 it passed by Pluto as it was its cover, but since then it has continued to enter space.
