The BND agent Baumann is in custody. The Stasi searched his apartment on the farm in Mülsen without success. However, Baumann had designed part of the apartment in such a way that it can only be reached via a secret access. To secure his hiding place, he activates a bomb with a timer when leaving, so that all traces are destroyed in an emergency. When he returns to the apartment, he defuses the explosive charge, but now he is stuck in custody.
