A woman named Josie has recently passed away, leaving behind a storage room filled with decades of collected memories and cryptic secrets. Remnants of her entire life are all here in one place - left for you to discover. As a young girl growing up in the 1960s, Josie was gifted a tape recorder and began documenting every part of her life. But in her old age, she has become almost unrecognizable, warped by the tragic events of her past. The Nest is an intimate, live experience for two audience members at a time, combining elements of immersive theater, narrative video games, serialized podcasts, and escape rooms into a new way to experience a story. Equipped with a flashlight, search through personal effects, explore your surroundings, and listen to audio cassettes to piece together the dramatic narrative of Josie's life.

Make sure you understand that this is not an escape room. The storyline is honestly kind of depressing, but regardless it was an incredible immersive experience. Take your time listening to the cassette tapes and really hearing the story. We made the mistake of being too distracted by everything in the rooms (and there’s a lot to see!) that I feel we didn’t fully get the whole story. The final room was amazing and really ties the whole thing together

Very neat and different. My experience was likely affected by the people I went with and their experience with the content. May be worth seeking a content warning out for this one. Definitely an immersive theatre piece and it’s very good at that.

Very different from escape experiences, but don’t let that intimidate you. It’s quite a moving experience. Production design was top notch.

WOW. What a moving experience. As an escape room enthusiast it was incredible learning how to just move with the flow of the story and not think so hard about puzzles, not everything needs to be analyzed under a microscope. They let you take your time, and if the GM is calling to nudge you forward, they do it completely in character and you don’t realize what they’re even doing when they call. They’re more of a companion than someone running the room. The point here is to listen to Josie’s journey and essentially wander through her memories under the guise of a storage unit. Doing this in a group of 2 as the only people in the building late at night other than our GM was part of the experience, it allowed us to take our time and let go, let the boxes and tapes guide our way. The very last room is overwhelming, depending on the mood you are in after the main room itself, this last one can be beautiful or heartbreaking. I could have spent an hour in that room alone. There is some sensitive subject matter that is warned about ahead of time and puts a very true depth into this story that may or may not be real. It takes up space in my mind and heart and I don’t really care if it’s real or fake because I felt every second of it, Hatch did an amazing job at this that I’ve not seen anywhere else ever. Highly recommended for small groups with open hearts.

Definitely make note of "immersive theater" - if you're going into this thinking it's an escape room, you'll be disappointed. It's a story, so take the time to slow down (you're in no rush), listen to the tales, and really enjoy & admire the scenery which is very well done. There ARE a few puzzles, and you'll need to do some searching, but nothing extraordinarily difficult. I found the ending quite moving and was tearing up at the end.
