The Nest [Immersive Theatre]

This experience is absolutely incredible. As a fan of video games like Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch, this really resonated with me. The characters are well written, the story is moving, and the room itself blends the whole experience together, being both claustrophobic and comforting at different points throughout the story. The puzzles lend really well to that same feeling, that you are exploring a person’s life and sensibilities, rather than trying to outsmart or defeat them. All in all, a fantastic time, and well worth the time and money.

This was the most singularly beautiful and emotional experience I’ve ever had in live entertainment PERIOD. I wept. This is a breathtaking experience for all story-lovers. DO NOT RUSH THROUGH THIS GAME. Don’t play stressing about the clock. This game deserves to be savored.

One of the most moving rooms I’ve ever done. Even a year later, I still think about it and tell friends about it. I completed it solo. It’s not really an escape room. The point isn’t to quickly solve and move through the room, but to experience and examine and reflect. I cannot put into words how much I loved it.

This was such a moving storytelling experience! Obviously going in you know it’s not an escape room as it’s posted everywhere and the host even confirms when you arrive. However, this is the type of immersion you are looking for when you do escape rooms. It had the perfect amount of creepiness in the beginning to get you engaged. And when you commit to the story, it makes you feel things. I loved the emotional pull and definitely will seek similar experiences in the future. Side note: the epilogue really hits the nail on the head! Highly highly recommended experience!

A true masterpiece in immersive storytelling. One of my favorite experiences to date. Creative and captivating storytelling, fantastic set design and an emotionally resonant story. I wish I could experience it again for the first time. 100/10 Go with someone very close to you, or go alone. Best with 1-2 people. If you’re looking for something similar, go play What Remains of Edith Finch. One of my favorite games with a similar theme.

I read a lot of reviews of this experience before I did it, so I felt adequately prepared to go into this not with an escape room mentality, but with more of an open mind to just experiencing this place. Pros: - Several novel ways of telling a story, incorporating a few light puzzles to figure out, and progressing you through the experience. - Amazing set design full of great objects. It certainly immersed you in the idea that you are exploring an old storage locker. - Our GM was very in character and did a great job playing her part. Cons: - The story felt a little lackluster. I wish there had been more depth to it or a deeper message to turn over in my mind afterwards. If this single aspect had been improved, this would have easily taken this to a “Love” rating for me. As it is, I felt a little let down by the boringness of the story. Perhaps if there had been a mystery to unravel or more interesting life events or some more reflection on how the person felt about her life events, I could have derived more enjoyment from the experience. It just needed a little bit more meat to it. - We went on a very hot day and it was too warm in the room. They had some light A/C in there, but I still sweated the whole time, which made it a little uncomfortable. - I wish there was a bit more to the story/experience that made it longer, as it felt a little too quickly progressed between the different story points. Right when it starts to get a bit interesting, you abruptly jump from one life event to another and then it’s over and there’s not much to feel about it. Just a little too straightforward. I wanted to feel conflicted or shocked or saddened or empathetic or something, but it was just a little bit too simplistic and straightforward of a story for any strong feelings to form.

Wow. What an interesting and so well done experience. We truly enjoyed just how special this was.

#1 - This is not per-say, an escape room, but more of an immersive experience that has escape elements. #2 - This is the first time that I have ever teared up in an experience. I had an employee that always raved about The Nest & when he heard that I was heading to LA he said I HAD to do this. So, after some thinking I booked my ticket and headed on my way. I didn't know what to expect and I didn't want to have any expectations because I wanted to have a clear mind going into this. Even if I did, I still don't think I would have conjured up what I had experienced. From beginning to end this was an immersive MASTERPIECE. As someone that loves to play video games, they captured this concept of exploration & searching down to such a creative science that there were so many cleaver ways to find the exact items we needed to progress the story. A story which had so many layers & was beautifully told that, I didn't want it to end. How they were able to create so many intimate spaces that told an incredible story baffles my mind. The lighting, the music, the special effects, were nothing short of amazing. I could write for hours about this unique, one-of-a-kind experience, but there's only one thing I'll say. Go experience this for yourself. Don't go expecting to be an escape room, because it's not. It's a story that you get to discover piece by piece and the more you find, the more you get to explore. At the end I almost died when I heard that there was still two parts that we didn't discover and I almost wanted to go back and play again just to experience it all over. My only regret is that we didn't take our time to just explore and be in the moment rather than move once we've finished a segment. Lastly, it was the finale that put me to tears. Such a beautiful, touching, & interactive way to end such an experience that it almost heals you. I'll say this, if I'm ever back in the LA area again, I. WILL. BE. DOING. THIS. AGAIN!

This experience will hit you in the "feels". I can see how doing it by yourself would be even more somber and powerful. If you can, experience it in that manner. Take your time, this is not an "escape". Live in the moment during any audio (don't try to solve puzzles while listening to a cassette).
