I feel super mixed about this room. If there was a ๐ซณ๐ป โehhโ hand, between thumbs up and down, I would pick it. What ultimately ticked to thumbs up was the work that went into the setting and atmosphere. I really can appreciate the effort, vision, and execution of an amazing set up. Our experience was not filled with the fun and thrill of other escape rooms because there were three puzzles/items that were malfunctioning, plus, the ultimate reveal of the victory had us scratching our heads. Two of us (in a group of five) completed the final puzzle without even knowing we were winning the room, while the other three were in another place still working on a puzzle that ultimately had no impact on us winning the game (because of a malfunction). That excitement of a win and escape was flattened and it was quite disappointing.
Gameplay wise, many of the puzzles were frustrating. Two of us spent 20 minutes in one area on a few puzzles without making any headway. Also, there were three puzzles that were malfunctioning or not working as intended.
By far, the best part of this room is the staging. They did a really great job of creating an immersive world.

This escape room has one of the most innovative and unique concepts that I've seen. Everything from the props, to the storyline, to the introduction/onboarding video, I was fully immersed to the experience. I would not recommend this as your first escape room because all the other rooms would be pale in comparison. I think it's a fair assessment to say that this is a dificult room because of the number of puzzles that your group needs to complete within the time alloted. My group had four members, and this was a good flow given that there were some nonlinear and linear elements. Parking could be difficult given that this location is in downtown LA but there is a parking lot within walking distance that has a reasonable fee.
The game master was no frills, no nonsense but I liked him!

Fantastic Room! So much ground to cover in just 60 minutes and you walk in truly not knowing what to expect. The story unfolds as you go and lots of surprises that we didn't expect going into this room! I think this room is perfect for 4, but if you want to experience chaos, by all means invite everyone along. The restaurant sits more than enough.

A really top notch room! We loved how the game โopened upโ from the first room, and appreciated how immersive the space was. The exploration felt really expansive. Puzzles were intriguing, though a lot would probably be trivial to someone who can read Chinese (we could not). Very non-linear and yet with a satisfying โescalationโ so we ended on a real high. Strongly recommended!

*Very* cool set design & commitment to theme. Several puzzles can be solved independently of each other, so most people in our group of six always had "something to do," which I appreciated. We solved it pretty quickly but I imagine it would take notably longer with a smaller team. Super fun, had a good time!

Set design is amazing, puzzles are fairly straight forward, but communication between owner and staff is needed!
The set design is amazing; it truly feels like you are transported to another era
There was miscommunication with the owner and the person who booked the room, but the staff members who greeted us didnโt know about the miscommunication and had a little attitude with us. I personally feel like our GM was a little lacking: they didnโt go over the rules with us and they didnโt ensure we were following basic escape room games. One of our team members climbed on top of anotherโs shoulder to get a clue; they didnโt show us how the locks worked; we werenโt sure if they were operating on the 2 finger rule; one of members was a first timer and didnโt know she couldnโt record the room (we found out afterwards she had recorded) etc. I understand that there were no visual aid for the GM, but they were able to hear us via audio aid and could have told us to not climb on top of each other to get clues.

Another beautiful game by Escape Room LA. We overthought the last room like crazy, but overall sped through the puzzles, which were GREAT as usual. We loved it! All 3 games here are incredible.

From the first entrance we were transported to 1960โs Hong Kong. The set design is realistic and the puzzle elements blend in. Our GM, Alex, was great; he gave nudges when asked and preserved our immersion. Every room weโve done with Escape Room LA has been fun and top-quality. If you get a chance to do any of their outdoor games as well, do it!
