Lab Rat takes place in a laboratory where giant rats are doing odd experiments on human beings, specifically you! The somewhat unhinged Ratkenstein, a doctoral student in the field of human intelligence (or, in his estimation, the lack thereof), has tasked you with completing a series of tests and puzzles. If you succeed, he can finally write his dissertation. If you fail, he’s going to put you and your friends in the old test-subject chipper (like a wood chipper, but for test subjects!). You’ll have one hour to complete the tests and attempt to get out of the laboratory for good, before Ratkenstein turns you into mulch!

This was my room #200, and I couldn’t be happier with the choice! If you like fun, you should play this game! (This could have been the whole review, but let’s write a little more) From you enter, till you leave, Lab Rat is whimsical, funny and challenging! The puzzles are amazing, the set is amazing, and the theme is amazing! The theme also works perfectly as an excuse for why you’re doing the puzzles, and it makes it so that all puzzles will fit into the room. This was one of those escape rooms that just screams fun, and I am so happy that we got to experience it!

Okay, so... we loved this room... even though a lot of things weren't working at the time. Projectors weren't working, so we didn't get to see the video at the beginning. And there was a ball stuck in one of the puzzles, so our host had to click us through. But all in all, it was a challenging, interesting room. There were a lot of really innovative puzzles, and incredible set design. I highly recommend this room to everyone--it's good for all ages.

If your kids are good with escape rooms, bring them in. It's a giant playground, really. Just don't let them climb on stuff.

They took care of us with the broken puzzles and projector.

There were things that we had to climb on and crawl through. There's also a slight chance of getting wet.

This. This right here. This is exactly what I want in an escape room! Lab Rat is like what would happen if you transformed the pre-ride lines at Disneyland into an escape room. The set is massive, literally in every way. Giant size props and large maze like hallways filled with punny jokes. The room is more interested in entertaining you and making you laugh. I was certainly smiling and wowed throughout! Even the cutscenes before and during the room are humorous sequences that resemble the Honey, I Shrunk the Audience attraction. There are a few strange puzzles and awkward uses of space. But the room definitely has its own personality, and has you do tasks because they’re fun, not because it wants to stump you. The final puzzle was a rush though! There are even credits at the end to honor the minds that went into this contraption, which further illustrates how this room is one grand cinematic adventure! All escape room fans should experience this rat race at least once, and prove that you’re not a idiot!

WOW. This is still our top escape room after 35 rooms. Loved it. Recommend highly. Creative story, fun games, delightful experience. Challenging. We did need hints and it was still stressful to get out in time. But a top room that makes you so grateful that escape rooms exist.

Imaginative and quite unique. This room was constantly being recommended to us so we rushed to check it out. At the end, we thought it was clever and well put together. I do believe it was a gem at the time it was created but a bit outdated compared to the newer ones out there.

The GM was a real gem. He took the time to answer questions and was truly engage with my team.

Unlike any other rooms I’ve done before. There’s been more popularity for physical puzzle rooms, and this definitely exceeds that. Super cool, really fun, friendly game master and all instructions were clear. Our group let the game master give the nudges and it definitely kept us on track/helped fix what we were doing incorrectly on a puzzle, but did not give the answer away or solve it for us.
Very novel, super cool story line
Felt like the whole space was used, innovative and inventive puzzles, set design completely transformed the experience.
Matched our energy!
Yes
Super interesting and felt like a lab rat. A lot of physical puzzles that kept in theme.
It’s not plot-driven, but there was the right amount of plot for the room to be fun and exciting.
Medium
Medium for my group, where each of us have done 30+ rooms, however it would be hard for people with less experience/familiarity with escape rooms.
High tech
It was a good combo of both, but it took a lot of technological advancement to do it.

4 was perfect. We all did puzzles on our own, and worked together as a team.
Not scary
When things happen, it’s a little bit of a jump scare, so it’s thrilling.
