Historic Ghost Tour Our Historic Ghost Tour is a 1.5-mile guided tour of Dahlonega with approximately 15 stops, including our historic Courthouse, the square’s popular café and most haunted restaurant, the Crimson Moon, other historic residences around the square, including the Vickery House, and stop at our town’s significant military university founded in 1873. In the Summer months, we also include a walk through Mount Hope Cemetery, which includes veterans from every war and Dahlonega’s most distinguished past citizens, and much more! Included as part of the tour is a dive into the rich and fascinating history of Dahlonega, from it's origins in the 1800s when it was the tribal home of the Eastern Cherokee Nation, through the gold rush of 1829, the removal of the Cherokee, the Civil War years, and the fate of the town after the gold ran out. Learn about some of Dahlonega's more colorful residents, such as Maggie Meaders, Billy Miner, Colonel William Pierce Price Jr., and the notorious General Harrison W. Riley
