Left Alone by Dark Matter Escape Rooms was the 4th and last room of Day 3 and the 8th game of our Athens Escape Tour 2026, played with the same team of five. By the time we reached this game we had already played several rooms that day, so fatigue may have played a role in how the experience landed for us. Unfortunately, this was the one where the gameplay didn’t fully click with our group. Some of the puzzles lacked clear logic or design direction, and at times they felt more like tasks or chores rather than satisfying puzzle moments. This made progression feel less rewarding than in the other rooms we had played. The environment was fairly simple, which is somewhat common in several Athens horror rooms where the focus tends to be more on atmosphere and tension rather than elaborate set design. Like the previous two games that day (Prison Break and You’re Next), the sound design was extremely loud. While it clearly aims to increase tension, at times it became more of a distraction and made team communication harder than it needed to be. One element that did stand out positively was the story, which carries an emotional tone and a meaningful conclusion that gives the experience a thoughtful ending. Overall, recommended mainly for dedicated horror fans, though there are other experiences in Athens that might be more rewarding to prioritize.
