Seven Days. Something out here is still broadcasting. The trail drops into standing water and dead trees. A television sits half-sunk in the mud, still lit, still hissing, no antenna, no power line, no explanation for why it’s on. Past it, a stone well stands open in the fog with the rope still hanging. Whatever went down there did not stay down there. You’ll hear it before you see it. A ring of sound somewhere in the trees. A screen lighting up behind you that was dark a second ago. Wet footprints across dry boards. This is the coldest, slowest walk on the property, and it’s built entirely around the thing you already know is coming and can’t do anything about.
