Twenty years ago, while the Mortuary was being rebuilt, Lord Ravencroft unearthed an impossible artifact… a Colossal Mirror, veined with Black Mercury, framed in a Spiral of Petrified Shell. Its Surface rippled like Living Water, almost as a Creature Breathing. As if Something were Alive just beyond the Looking Glass. Long before fairy tales were written, they were remembered. The princesses and monsters, the witches and wolves — they weren’t inventions of fantasy. They were echoes of the beings glimpsed beyond the mirror. Long before books, before kingdoms, before language — early minds glimpsed His silhouette curling behind water, behind fire, behind dream. Deep in the Reflected Realm, they saw His tentacles carving paths through the sky. They felt His eye watching them through obsidian pools as He remembered. Unable to comprehend, they did the only thing a fragile mind could: They turned their fear into stories. Fairy tales were not fantasies — they were ancient eyewitness accounts, sanitized and softened for survival. Each story told was a way to make the unspeakable seem safe Kings, queens, pirates, mermaids. Every incarnation of The Mortuary — every theme — was not random, but a memory resurfacing. We thought the haunt was fiction. But, no! It is a prophecy of things to come…vision of realities that are now being realized. In this 20th year of the Mortuary’s making, The mirror has cracked!
