One of the rare times I have been close to tears from the beauty of an escape room. Innovative design, a unique story and set, and a lovely ending that felt quietly cinematic. A must play for any enthusiast.
Novel, logical gameplay with many surprises.
Warm, friendly, yet also adventurous.
Great hospitality
Not at all
Aside from a few minor dexterity challenges, no physicality.

I love escape rooms that are shoved into whatever space could be found—something genuinely feels extra special about having to find your way to the business before you actually get to play. Boxaroo is an example of that, and having never played a game in Boston prior, I didn't have any specific expectations. I was absolutely blown away by Storyteller's Secret. The storyline was completely unique and the structure of the room was so creative. I'm excited to try some of their other rooms the next time I get the chance, because this room set the bar high for Boston escape rooms.

As a writer I was completely enthralled by this beautifully designed room and the incredibly poignant storyline. Highly recommend!

This is more of an experience than an escape room. It’s not particularly challenging, but the environment is magical. Keep the team together and move through at a relaxed pace, as the effects as each subsequent part of the story is unlocked are not to be missed

A charming experience that successfully builds on a sense of wonder and discovery. Design elements support the tone, overarching narrative world, and player journey through it. The player’s goals are clear, cohesive, and organized in a way that minimizes chaos and confusion and supports focus on the objects and player actions within the game. Everything was well-maintained so that wear and tear was not evident and mechanical elements worked and kept pace with us, allowing us to really feel and move through the space as I imagine the designers intended. There was one minor issue I’ll clarify in the rating breakdown. A note on expectations: when you hear or read of it as an immersive story, think more along the lines of an exploratory game where a story, in many parts, is more suggested than explicit. For those who have trouble keeping track of time or feel anxious about it, I recommend bringing a watch as I did not see a clock in the room and it’s clear the design and intent of the game is towards more of a pace of motivated curiosity than frenzied urgency, so it would be more enjoyable to stress less about the time limit :)
Medium
I think this really depends on how familiar you are with interactive puzzles and escape rooms. To me it felt easy/medium but in a way that flowed and was satisfying, but I can see how lack of familiarity would add challenge. Fortunately, there’s a great available-but-unobtrusive hint mechanic if you want to engage with it.

But… at the very end I triggered the final sfx by doing something experimental, though it didn’t keep us from getting the actual answer it did probably lessen the final moment. The GM made sure to get clarification from us about what happened, which gave me some confidence it would be addressed (I wish this was the norm and wasn’t worth pointing out but in my experience this is not common).

An amazing room. Truly one of the top 3 I’ve done thus far. Though the “writer’s study” trope has been done time and time again, this version was a breath of fresh air. Not only were the puzzles intriguing and difficult, they were vibrant and full of life. The ideas were separate but cohesive and the final puzzle had such a smart twist I still remember it some 6 months later.

This is one of, if not the best escape room experiences I have ever played. It is such a beautiful take on an escape room by adding such a rich / simple story. Using tech out of this world to bring the worlds together and have you created the new stories and journey together. Highly recommended
