Check your membership cards! Eccentric businessman and Harvest Moon Video store owner, Joseph Boddy , is set to retire. He has decided to randomly select several membership cards from his Video Store database and has issued special “golden tickets” to a lucky few. A local newspaper, The Sleepy Hollow Patch, is reporting that Mr. Boddy has laid out a series of challenges throughout his beloved video store for the chosen few, and if successful, the team will be rewarded THE DEED to the store. Mr. Boddy feels it is time for a change in ownership, one that can bring a fresh new upgrade to Harvest Moon Video as a new generation takes the helm of the film world. HMV has always been a prominent fixture on Main Street in the quiet village of Sleepy Hollow, New York. This quaint store continues to be the hot spot in town on a Friday night, as locals fill the aisles look for movies to rent. YOUR membership card has been drawn, and you and your team are anxiously waiting outside the store for further instructions. As you feel the crisp, cool air and take in the smells of the fall season, you listen to the passing cars, wondering when Joseph Boddy will arrive. At exactly 10:31 pm, a video beings to play inside the store. Your instructions are simple. You must gain entrance to the store and complete the tasks within an hour. If you are successful, you will be granted the deed to Harvest Moon Video. However, if you cannot complete his game in time, your car will be towed, and the next team of lucky golden ticket winners will get their change at this one-in=a=lifetime opportunity.

NOSTALGIA, OMG brought back some fun memories. Not hard, but not easy either. This was such a fun room with puzzles I’ve never seen before. If you are under 30 years old you won’t fully appreciate the environment or set design. For the rest of us 30+ this will bring back childhood memories just don’t squirrel out reading the boxes or watching the movies (it’s really easy to do, NOSTALGIA) it is still an escape room.
If you’ve ever been to a Blockbuster store or video rental store you will instantly go back in time. It’s a small space but so well done
Owner and all the GMs were awesome

Can’t say I’ve ever played an escape room set in a blockbuster store before.
All the games at Dare 2 Escape follow a similar storyline characters etc.
Medium
Not particularly difficult unless of course you weren’t alive during the blockbuster video days there are relic equipment items that will have you scratching your head 😂
High tech
Little bit of both but I wouldn’t have it any other way

2-3 enthusiasts or 4-5 beginner-intermediate players. It’s a very small space though so to many players and you will be bumping elbows all game

The environment is child friendly but the puzzles are kind of difficult and unless you are over 30 years old you probably won’t even know what most of the stuff is

My group did all 7 of Dare’s games in one day and this was probably my fourth place game overall. There were a lot of locks in this room, it was a constant flow, which is great because the puzzles were usually pretty enjoyable but I would’ve liked to see some variation in how codes were input or something so it wasn’t such a lock overload. Overall though this game was quite good, great set that really felt like you were at the video store (I assume…blockbuster filed for bankruptcy when I was like 6 so….)…which actually brings me to a slight problem I had, there were a couple puzzles that were about the duties of the owner/manager/employee of a video store, where you had to the activities of the employees, but…there were several things I’ve never seen, or if I have, I didn’t actually know how to use, which kinda felt like outside knowledge that fewer and fewer people will know. Anyways, overall quite good.

We LOVED this room. It was so nostalgic for anyone who grew up in Blockbusters, and the puzzles were fun and challenging (but not TOO hard, like we felt a lot of the ones in At The Hop Ice Cream Shop were). We had a really fun time and are excited to come back for more rooms in the future.

Nothing in the room itself, but the sound on the clue screen was down. It was no real issue, we just had to make sure we were checking it.

We liked the room very much. We liked that the room was pretty much self contained and has great visibility after the initial part. The theming was terrific and made us remember our childhood and teenage years. The puzzles were novel and got with the theme well.
We enjoyed the gameplay a lot. We were told going in that there were two clue paths but we still kind of worked together as needed. We thought the puzzles were fun and novel. We did end up needing several clues. My only very tiny suggestion is that I wish there was a little more space to put items because our workspace became very crowded and because I’m clumsy I kept dropping things.
The theme of the video store was very on point. It was very nostalgic for us being 90s kids. The use of props was definitely very well though out.
Staff was great. Even though they were clearly very busy and rocking and rolling when we arrived, Sean and Hunter were great in getting us set up and giving us clues and nudges as needed. They have us very thorough explanations and prepared us for what to expect.
