The ToymakerIntrigue Little RockEscape roomOther Overall, a fun game inside of the open floor plan at Intrigue. Good puzzles and a good flow. We will definitely be back to Intrigue to scratch the escape room itch (even though the open floor plan/staff interaction isn't our favorite).
Cold CaseIntrigue Little RockEscape roomOther Overall, a little more challenging than other rooms at Intrigue with some fun puzzles. However, we are still not huge fans of the open floor plan concept escape room and the staff interaction was "too helpful" in this game. We received "clues" in this game that not only weren't helpful, but they were a distraction because we were someplace the staff didn't realize we were. The path to the solution is somewhat repetitive, but the varying puzzles to get there were innovative and engaging, with the exception of one puzzle solution just being handed to us (as if the designer had run out of puzzles). The conclusion to the puzzle was a surprise but the "help" we were getting pushed us to that point a little too quickly. The staff, as always, was very welcoming and readily available, and we will be back to scratch the escape room itch since we've played every other escape room in Little Rock that we can.
The Frame and the FingerprintIntrigue Little RockEscape roomOther We want to like the open gameplay concept, the clues to the individual puzzles were good, and everything else the Mystery Mansion folks do is top-notch, but this just isn't the same. We were told that "The Frame and the Fingerprint" is the most challenging game at Intrigue. We were given badges with the 3x questions that we needed to answer to "escape", were given our detective kit, and started off on our quest. This game is totally non-linear and we were instructed to solve each puzzle in whatever order we desired. It was both beneficial that the game isn't timed at 60- or 90-minutes (60 would have been a challenge) and at the same time loses the challenge of the clock by not being timed. The individual puzzles were easier to moderately challenging, but nothing too hard for 3 experienced players. We had equipment issues on two separate puzzles and the game(s are) is starting to show some wear. However, pulling together the 3x answers we needed to find to "escape" was a very nebulous task to the point that once we'd solved every individual puzzle we went back and re-unlocked (we were instructed to lock each puzzle after we solved it) each puzzle to consolidate the information to determine the solution to each puzzle. Even then, while we had a solid solution, and were told that we got it right, we never got a clear explanation as to how that was the correct solution. Ideally, there would have been a "Clue"-like envelope telling us it was Colonel Mustard, in the ballroom, with the candlestick, but all we got was a nod, just before closing, that we were correct. A bit anticlimactic. Since we've exhausted most other traditional escape room options in the Little Rock area, and because Intrigue has shown potential with the 4 "rooms" we've played so far, and because we need to scratch the escape room itch, we will definitely be back. Hopefully we'll grow to appreciate and enjoy more of what Intrigue has to offer with its unique setup.
