(Played during beta testing) Fun from start to finish. My group and I did not want this game to end, as we were having so much fun solving this cabin’s thematic, varied, and satisfying puzzles. I would recommend a small group (2-4) for maximum enjoyment. Strengths- +This room, just like the other game I have played at Just Escape Room (Floor 66) had some genuinely good humor for my taste. + Every puzzle felt fair and well-thought out. +Just Escape Room made a beautiful and cozy set. +There was never any confusion on which code went with which lock. +This game’s flow just felt right. + One puzzle was so thematic and cool (so memorable). Areas to improve/personal preferences- -This game felt a little short, but it was still long enough to feel satisfying. -The background info for the story felt too complicated and had no bearing on the game at all (this was a puzzle-focused game). -The ending could be stronger as it felt like it needed a stronger puzzle or bigger moment (some pizzazz)

This was a joyous and charming game that reminded me why I love escape rooms. You could still do this room if you haven’t seen the movie but fans of the movie would definitely enjoy it more. We didn’t know what to expect going in, but I’m definitely glad this was a game we played. This would be good for kids or adults. There are enough puzzles to keep enthusiasts busy. This was a pretty linear game so go in with a small group (2-4). Strengths- + Elevation changes added to believability of environments + Set was cute and immersive + Puzzles and environment were full of direct references to the movie + One physical puzzle utilized teamwork in an especially memorable way + All of the puzzles were logical, with some very clever ones. This room never had me thinking “How could we have solved that?” + It was generally clear which codes went with which lock + The tech, although limited, was used very effectively and never malfunctioned. +Final puzzle concluded the story nicely Areas to Improve/ Personal Preferences - One area didn’t look as well put together as the other areas. - One puzzle may have been reaching the limits of “common knowledge”. I don’t know what would’ve happened if someone didn’t know this information before going in. - 1 special effect seemed potentially dangerous for taller people

What an interesting game! This game was played in the English version, and it only seemed to hinder the game only a little bit. Definitely worth your time if in the area, especially for experienced escape room goers. Strengths- + The starting puzzle for this room was a communication puzzle so unlike anything I had ever done before, it requires EXTREME levels of communication and patience. But it was super satisfying to slowly complete it. + That same communication puzzle was so daunting, but it was broken up into 3 parts to make it feel like you were progressing. + You are allowed to bypass the first communication puzzle if you spend longer than 25 minutes on it, so you can play the rest of the game. + The transition scenes and ending added drama and excitement! + The set was sleek and contrasting Areas to Improve/Mixed Feelings - The game master did well speaking English, but we might’ve missed important briefing information that could’ve helped us in the first part of the room, and the story ended up being a little more blurry than it should’ve. - Tons of red herrings in the latter portion of the room (the only part that plays as a traditional escape room) - One of the final puzzles had extremely precise tech that didn’t fully work, and we didn’t need to fully solve the puzzle but we didn’t know it at the time. - There were no “push to exit doors”, you were actually locked in. Bad for fire safety.

This was a fine room. It was definitely a step up from Matsuri at this same location in terms of puzzle design. The puzzles were pretty easy and there weren’t many of them. It was still enjoyable for an escape room outing. Strengths- -The puzzles were logical, and varied in their nature, and fun to complete for the most part. -The set design looked nice and used lights and sounds to enhance immersion -The ending was cute -All the tech worked Areas to Improve/Personal Preferences - There were not enough puzzles, as there were only a handful of relatively simple puzzles. - The puzzles didn’t feel very satisfying to complete as most of them were self contained and didn’t connect to anything else in the room, and were not layered or multi-step in any way.

This was such a unique game that should not be missed. Bigger groups would have enough to work on the whole time, and smaller groups can still finish if they work fast. We met one of the owners and he was so nice. Difficulty: Medium Strengths- + This game had a super unique storyline that was really refreshing in a world full of prisons, tombs, and serial killers. +There was a little character in our room that made this room felt whimsical and added to the fun. +All the puzzles were logical and fun to solve. + This room just felt lovingly built and well-tested and felt like it had a soul (that was on purpose). + This room had a lot of locks, but we were never confused on which code went where. + The set looked warm and inviting + The soundtrack was beautiful + In general, puzzles progressed from simpler to more complex + Many puzzles required communication Areas to Improve/ Personal Preferences - Definitely used a lot of escape room logic, not necessarily a bad thing but just something to note. - It is more of a gen 1 -1.5 room with tech sprinkled in, if you’re not into that maybe you won’t love it.

This room is a puzzle room, with some of the most fun and cerebrally satisfying puzzles I’ve ever seen in an escape room. The set was solid and the story was good too especially for a room of this genre. I could see 3-4 people being ideal for this room, but it was still doable with 2. Difficulty: Medium + In-character game-mastering for the intro to give storyline, not just a video or boring text to read + Some of the most mentally satisfying puzzles I’ve ever seen, the Aha moments felt particularly strong + Super unique and creative puzzles, and each one was different from the rest + Mostly non-linear nature helped puzzle flow + Set really looked like an art gallery + Ending delivered on excitement that was building up throughout the room Areas to improve/ Personal preferences - There was heavy wear on many of the locks - One puzzle could be bypassed through random guessing, but not sure how common this is - One puzzle required an assumption that probably needed some clueing

The Escape Game - Lynnfield

This was a fun room with a cool set. Puzzles were solid but nothing special. I wish every escape room chain was as good as The Escape Game, in terms of puzzle design, set design, and especially customer service. They really go above and beyond to make sure that their clients have a great experience even with their pesky public booking policy. They gave us a free game because a few things in this room weren’t working, which they didn’t have to do. It was extremely kind of them. Difficulty- Medium Strengths- + The set design was beautiful, and the special effects that were working were cool. + One puzzle was memorable for the usage of an underutilized sense in escape rooms. + The vast majority of puzzles were logical and fit the theme well. + I always look forward to the intro videos at The Escape Game, and this might’ve been my favorite one. Areas to Improve/ Personal Preferences - A large set piece was not working when we went and it became a ghost puzzle, hindering our progress. -One puzzle needed some audial or visual feedback to tell us if we were on the right track. - One piece of tech had a huge and seemingly random time delay from our input to physical reaction, frustrating us. - One puzzle could’ve been implemented in a much cooler way, but it turned out to be a much very low-skill version of its potential. - One puzzle didn’t work the way it was supposed to, and the game master had to bypass it for us manually.

This game was solid on the surface, but had some problems that held it back from being a great room. This room would only be good for groups of 2, due to its exclusively linear nature. The staff was really friendly, and their lobby was beautiful. It was still a fun time. Strengths- + The game, which was all tech, worked perfectly. + All the puzzles were logical and there were no leaps of logic in solving them. They were also tactile. + The hint system didn’t break immersion because we could interact with an in-game character, unless we absolutely needed to contact the game master. + The lighting was atmospheric. Areas to improve/ Personal Preferences- - The puzzles felt overly simplistic, and all were self contained, and didn’t have much to do with the theme. They could’ve belonged to any escape room. For the most part, they didn’t feel rewarding to solve. -The set felt “Atlantis-like” but indescript. One area of the set looked worse than the other parts. - The puzzles felt attached to the set instead of part of the set. - The flow was so linear that it felt suffocating, if you got stuck you never would be able to do anything else to make progress. Some puzzles were 1 person puzzles. This is okay if there are other things in the room to do simultaneously for the other people, but there weren’t.

This was a really fun game on the easier side of the escape room spectrum. If you’re going with enthusiasts you shouldn’t have more than 2 people. Less experienced players should be good with up to 4. Difficulty: Medium-Easy Strengths- + Even though a lot of the puzzles felt easy, they felt especially fun to complete. + The puzzle flow played smoothly, being a mostly linear game with a few parts that branch off a little. + The Escape Game always makes good sets. This one wasn’t grand, but it was still well-done. + One puzzle connected particularly well to its time period and the execution of the puzzles had us watching in amusement. +I thought that one screen was going to be relied upon too heavily, but we never had to spend too much time interacting with it. It was kept fun. Areas to Improve/ Personal Preferences - The story was never made that clear. - I think that this room could’ve used more discovery, exploration, or surprises. - I think the room could’ve benefitted with at least one more complex multi-step puzzle.

This was an all around very good game. It was all tech and everything worked. The game master and one of the owners, Nick, was very good at hint-giving, and both the set and puzzles helped to elevate immersion into the storyline. This room did not have as many puzzles as I had expected but most puzzles had multiple parts. Our group of 5 worked as the game moved between non-linear and linear puzzle tracks, but more people would’ve been too many. Strengths + Multi-step, layered puzzles that were satisfying to solve + Flawless tech integration that felt and looked like magic, adding to storyline immersion + Good accessibility accommodations for mobility and color blindness + High-stakes, adrenaline-pumping, fun ending + The recruit’s toolkit given to us really made it feel like we had agency in stealing this diamond, and made it feel less “escape room-y” and more like an action movie. Areas to Improve/ Personal Preferences - 1 or 2 areas of the set felt not as detailed as other areas - 1 computer puzzle overstayed its welcome

I liked The Depths… but I don’t think it’s amongst the best that The Escape Game has to offer. At TEG you always can count on solid puzzles, and this room is no exception. The puzzles ramp up nicely from simple to more complex and multi -step towards the end of the game, and all of them were fun. Many puzzles demanded good communication. The finale sequence was exciting, even though the stakes of “failing” were a little unclear. The set design is still good but was nowhere near as exciting and fun to explore as some of TEG’s other rooms like gold rush, playground or special ops.

Many things made this room stand out, mainly the set design and the game master. I forgot his name, but our game master talked to our group prior to the game to ask about how we wanted to receive hints, which was very appreciated. The set was very pretty from floor to ceiling, and the transitions between rooms were well done. The puzzles were good overall, not super unique aside from one awesome one towards the end. But still, all the puzzles were logical, fun, and on-theme. It was pretty challenging from the amount of puzzles present, and the room was mostly non-linear.

Our group of 3 had a lot of fun playing Sabotage. Although we played against the ai, the concept was still fun and the game master helped us out with a part where we had to interact with the opposing team. The puzzles were all interesting, unique, and mostly multi-step, and felt super rewarding once you made the mental connection. Although the room is small, there is no lack of surprises because with all the white panels you never know which ones will pop open. Overall this was a very unique game which definitely exceeded my expectations.

Almost as good as the room it replaced, gold rush. This room had many multi-step puzzles that made players make one extra connection more than may be expected in a room like gold rush. The puzzles were the standout feature, aside from one that was unexpectedly difficult due to darkness and one technological glitch. The puzzles were on theme and required collaboration. This room had a lot of locks, but it didn’t take anything away from the room, and there still was a good amount of tech. The set design was solid as expected from the escape game, and one transitional scene stood out as a highlight for the way that the dynamic set was able to control your attention to make some magic happen. The story was a bit confusing and it felt like we were just solving puzzles for the sake of it, but they were so fun that I didn’t mind. I think special ops is still the best room I’ve done at this location for the strength of its set design and storyline.

60 to Escape - Gurnee

60 to Escape continues to level up in the immersion department. The intro to this room helped us understand the storyline but was too long, and no visuals made it a little boring. The set was strong and the highlight of this room, and the puzzles all made sense with the story and ranged in difficulty, with a good dose of communication puzzles, correlation/observation puzzles and logic puzzles. There was one minor time suck puzzle, one annoying puzzle towards the end and maybe a slight reliance on color puzzles, but they were solid overall, with one endgame thematic communication puzzle being a highlight. This room didn’t have the personality of other 60 to escape rooms, but I still think it is was quite a good room. The ending was memorable as well.
