Edison vs. Tesla: Edison ModeEscape Hour AustinEscape roomIRLI’ve done every escape room at Escape Hour and was excited to do the very last room with friends from work after hyping up my experience with their other rooms. I was pretty disappointed in our experience. First, with their new booking system (Wevor), I was not able to book the both rooms for the Tesla and Edison experience on my phone from their web app. When I called Escape Hour, they were dismissive and made it seem like my fault for not being able to book the experience, even when we walked through each step of the booking on the app and there was clearly not an option to book the second room after selecting “head to head” mode. During the actual escape room, multiple puzzles were broken, including the display in our room that was supposed to show the progress of the other team. Our game master (Lee) was not as in-character as our previous game masters at Escape Hour, and it was a bummer that they were dismissive of all the technical issues we experienced that interfered with the gameplay. It seemed like they should have tested the game components to make sure everything was working before we dropped $400 on their room, or at least apologized for everything that didn’t work? It’s such a bummer because we have had really positive experiences with their other rooms and game masters, and I was excited to go out on a high note with this last room. Unfortunately, it seems like this venue is going downhill between the technical issues and lack of customer service training with staff.
