Da Vinci's Secret60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRLThis one is fun! Nice theming. There were a lot of puzzles and a good variety of puzzle types. My husband and I escaped with a little over 10 minutes left, just the two of us. We’ve done 2 60out escape rooms previously and like doing puzzles in general. This is supposed to be one of the harder rooms but if you have similar experience you can still do it with 2 people! There were some issues with the mechanics where you have to angle something just perfectly to get something to unlock, but the game master always anticipated that and noted those issues as we encountered them so it didn’t impact our game. Shoutout to Alex who was enthusiastic and helpful but not at all intrusive! Overall a good time and would recommend this room.
Doctor Psycho60Out - HollywoodEscape roomIRL2 of us [relative novices] escaped with a few minutes to spare and had a great time. Some fun horror themed touches. We were able to do most puzzles without hints but required a few. Game master was great and obviously passionate about the room. Gotta give a shout-out to whoever played before us and messed with the props enough to warrant additional rules/notices and made us hesitant to move things around lol.
Ghost Ship60Out - MelroseEscape roomIRL2 of us escaped this room with basically 30 seconds left. This is the second room we’ve done together and I’ve done 2 more outside of LA (so we’re experienced but not experts). Though we ended up cutting it close, I still think 2 was an okay number since there’s no puzzle that’s more than 2-handed really, but 3 or 4 people might get you out faster. It was labeled hard so we expected to not make it out and to be fair, we required hints in the later half. (Thank you to our GM whose name I’m sorry I forgot but was great and working solo on a holiday!) The first half we pretty much breezed through (it’s fairly intuitive and if you’ve done escape rooms before or do puzzles often some actions will be familiar to you) but it was fun and immersive and the theming was great (sound effects, props, puzzle designs). Good amount of puzzles and some good variety of puzzles too. Possibly because of age/overuse there were a few small mechanical things (we didn’t realize we did a puzzle right bc we didn’t hear something else open, stuff like that) but it was mostly pretty smooth. Because of the theme, the lighting is very low, some of the puzzles required some genuine squinting. So just prepare yourself for that aspect! I would recommend this room for sure. It’s not scary btw, just has some ghostly sound effects and skeletal props, but not much in the jump scare arena (which personally I like).
