13th BasementExit Game OC - AnaheimEscape roomIRLSo I did this with a full group of 8 thinking it'd be a quicker experience... and I was very mistaken lol. It became very scrambly with all the different ideas thrown out and clues being grabbed, making people try to solve some of the puzzles without the full context or able to breathe and focus in on the true solutions to them. But the room was pretty cool and had some humor in it from the killer that's leading this whole story. It's a good Medium difficulty room, which you'd be sure to like it with a group of 5 or less. It's just hard to tell if I would've loved it with less people, which is no fault to the room at all but to me for bringing an oversized group. The GM was amazing as well and very very knowledge-able on escape rooms!
The NemesisMission Escape GamesEscape roomIRLWhat an incredible room. I did it with a full party of 10, with essentially all newcomers, with 6 of them only having done 1 escape room previously. The puzzles are challenging, with an amazing set design and the story was getting our interest over time, especially the more "cutscenes" we had throughout it. Was able to finish it with 8 minutes to spare, and since a lot of us felt like we needed to work faster after being very slow at the start, we really honed in as a group flying by the room after the 30 minute mark! Really strong, and really exciting during the last half of the room.
A Pirate's CurseEscapology - Marina Del ReyEscape roomIRLThe game felt clunky in terms of flow and some of the puzzles felt a bit more basic than anticipated (some especially so). And we were stuck on dealing with locks that needed some force to push in and then out to open and it took 10-20 minutes for that to be clarified which soured the rest of the experience since we very quickly figured out the code, just couldn't get the lock to crack. It's a shame cause the room does look amazing and I was hoping to come out with a great experience from Escapology after trying their Scooby Doo one at another location previously.
