We went in as a team that do a lot of escape rooms and came out so frustrated by it all. It wasn’t frustration from not being able to solve the puzzles but parts were more not knowing what parts in rooms linked with other rooms and it was really hard to communicate across such a big space.

Gameplay

If there was a neutral I’d chose that. Some bits were really easy and then the lack of linear play really got annoying. Some of the clues in such a giant space were too small and you could see where other people had damaged things looking for labels etc. The number of rooms was fun but also split the group up so much it was hard to know what other people were doing.

Atmosphere

The theming is better than others I’ve been to just too big a space to work effectively as a team

Customer service

The phone for clues was useless as you couldn’t understand what the person was saying. When we said we’d done a lot of escape rooms before I feel like he wanted us to fail and it made a really weird atmosphere

Difficulty

Medium

Some bits were hard as you couldn’t work out what you had to do. We said as a group we like to find the puzzle easily and working it out should be hard but found that some puzzles just didn’t make sense with no clue what the link to other parts of the room were

The actual theme was really good, downside is me and my friend were late due to the fact the escape room is completely hidden away, no signs on the outside making it obvious it was inside a larger building with laser tag and bowling. It wasn't the most inmersive experience, I can't remember much about it now apart from the fact that it's so hidden away and impossible to get to unless you're driving or in a car. We attempted by bus and it was a long walk. I did Mark it a thumbs up because we did enjoy the challenge nonetheless. we didn't get close to escaping but that's just the way it goes

I think this has to be at the very bottom of my list of enjoyment. It was obvious that puzzles were broken and instead of removing parts of the puzzle which were collected along the way they have been left in. I admit that our brains were not the sharpest today due to a late night but the room didn’t flow well at all. The puzzles which did work and made sense were very easy. The ending was also very disappointing and a kind of ‘oh have we done it?’ moment. During the debrief with the GM at the end we asked what ‘this’ and ‘that’ did and it was obvious he was covering for broken equipment. This is the first of their rooms we have attempted and will not be returning for the others.

Another mixed bag from Houdini’s but still overall enjoyable. The host knew their stuff, full of interesting facts about the Titanic, very cheery and clearly enjoys their job. Although, perhaps a little to trigger-happy with the Yes/No hint system and the telephone hints. For example I’d ask my partner a question and the host would reply with the Yes/No sound clip. In the end we resorted to whispering to each other where possible so we could figure it out for ourselves. The room layout was absolutely fantastic with great verticality and a multitude of rooms and areas. The puzzles were clever and themed into the nautical environment and the Titanic story. However, many things obviously didn’t work how they were intended to and this left a disappointing taste. There were lots of “oh what WOULD have been cool” moments. I might be completely wrong but Houdini’s rooms seem to have the feeling that they are made then abandoned to the staff to just ‘make-do’. Despite this, I did still enjoy myself, but I just wish I played it when it first opened and everything worked.

Set design was fantastic, with each room looking drastically different based on area of the ship.

It’s the Titanic so not original but did follow the events nicely.

The set was amazing but the puzzles and the host let the room down massively.

Gameplay

Puzzles didn’t really make much sense

Atmosphere

Set was the best thing about the room

Customer service

Didn’t know the puzzles if we were stuck and came into the room several times which always ruins the experience
