Permanently Closed - When a devastating experimental virus leads to a zombie outbreak, it’s up to you to secure the antidote and save humanity. But the clock is constantly ticking, as every minute you’re exposed to the virus increases the chance that you’ll fall victim to its zombifying effects. Here at EscapeWorks Denver, our Outbreak room puts you to the test as you work to find clues and puzzles within an abandoned lab. Success is crucial not only to spare the world from the zombie horde, but also to save yourself from certain death. Players have just 60 minutes or less to secure the antidote and escape with their lives intact, at which point the lust for flesh will be too strong. Because Outbreak features more challenging clues, this room is recommended for experienced players. We also invite you to learn more about our favorite movie monsters with these fun zombie facts: Filmmaker George A. Romero is considered the originator of modern zombie lore World Zombie Day is celebrated every October 13th Ancient Greeks had a fear of the deceased coming back to life The word zombie originated from “Nzambi,” a West African word meaning God Kinemortophobia describes a fear of zombies

A below-average vaccine type room. There were a couple of fun things, but most were puzzles that have been done at other places. We had a couple of random people join our game, which may have impacted the experience.

Dramatic music played the whole time, and there was a corpse in the second room. I’m not a fan of zombie rooms in the first place, but I found this one particularly unsettling. There were only 2 puzzles in the entire experience that I enjoyed; everything else was very out-of-pocket.

Set was done well but that was the only thing I liked about the game and just barely because there were so many props hat were part of set it was impossible to tell what information was needed and what was irrelevant. Would not recommend. The hosts were super friendly but there flying system doesn’t allow you to ask for hints. They provide hints when they feel you are struggling.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what’s missing here, but the whole group left thinking…..that was only ok. The puzzles were fine enough, but the set design felt second-rate. Nothing was broken or malfunctioning, but I think the “props” (non-gameplay items just for design) felt kinda icky. I didn’t feel like I was in a medical lab, I felt like I was in the storage closet where they keep old broken stuff that nobody cleaned. There were some creative and enjoyable puzzle solutions but there was also a deluge of unincorporated data/writing/reading material as well as time-suck red herrings that were more annoying than clever. In the end, it all felt a bit sloppy. Some escape rooms feel curated for an awesome experience. This room feels more like it was slapped together for a business opportunity.

Fun challenging room. One of the pieces to the room wasn’t working properly but when the staff noticed, they stopped the time to help us out and added back the time we lost. This is the 4th room I’ve done at this location and the first time there was any sort of malfunction with part of the room

I loved this escape room. Some parts had all of our group stuck for quite a bit. But I think that’s just good puzzle making. Though I may add that parts of this room are scary/disturbing, so do not bring youth, and be warned.
