Review is only for Masquerade - hoping the other rooms are better. Masquerade is in desperate need of a refresh as most of the props have seen better days. The very first clue required exceptional force to pull down the lock. We wasted 17 minutes on the very first thing because no matter how many times we did the directional lock pattern, it wouldn’t budge and the game master made no attempt to assist or pay attention how many times we said out loud the combos we were trying . We pushed the clue button, got a useless clue that we were already doing; pushed it again and waited 5 minutes to get the combo clue that we had already tried a bunch of times; then he came into say pull hard. Like…what a buzz kill from the get go. Then another clue wasn’t registering its trigger shortly after. While the rest of the puzzles had a lot of fluidity, we lost so much time and enthusiasm from those first major needs being unpassable and the game maker not acknowledging the issues. Also the book prop has seen way better days and was falling apart. We love a good diy room, but this felt like a tattered duct tape situation in which the game maker made no effort to salvage. Humor goes along way, but it seemed like we just annoyed him. One of our players said “it’s the hardest room because it’s badly built not because it’s difficult.” And that was a great description. Another player said “it’s like a teacher who only writes in bad cursive to make sure he can claim his students are lazy”
Gameplay
Flows better after the 3rd major trigger completion. Brutal start
Atmosphere
Needs a refresh. Beat up
Customer service
He seemed proud that the room had a low pass rate and waited long times to respond to clue requests. We only asked for 2 and both took more than 3 minutes to receive
