You are the elder sibling born into a Royal family. It was your birthright to inherit the throne upon the King’s death, but an evil secret plan executed by your younger brother and some corrupt castle guards has left you exiled from the kingdom. The corrupt guards were given strict orders to capture you if you ever returned to the castle. When the King and Queen died, your tyrannical brother ran the kingdom into despair. Disgusted by the decline of a once prosperous and peaceful land, you decide to risk your life to set things right. Disguised as a pauper, you’ve managed to make it back to the castle undetected, and with your knowledge of the secret passages in the castle, you’ve made it into the King’s Study. The castle guards are escorting your brother to a feast and they’ll be back within the hour! Can you prove that you’re the true heir to the throne?

Had a great room experience, courtesy of our GM Anna. The room itself is pretty simple locks and codes style with puzzles that are fairly standard, but everything flowed well and the degree of linearity vs parallelization was actually really good for a medium group. The other rooms here are definitely a step above and I still haven’t done their newest (at the time of writing, curse of the hidden temple).

This room is super fun and has some really unique puzzles! It’s very thematic and we liked that it wasn’t linear so the group could be tackling different things at the same time! Josiah was a super fun GM and we had a great time with them!

Deja was our game master, she is great! This was a good room, lots of the classic style of locks. All of the puzzles flowed every seamlessly

Quest for the Throne was the first room we tackled at Expedition Escape, and we were so impressed that we’ve already been back—and plan to return again! Even though this is one of their older rooms and most of the puzzles are first-generation (primarily lock-and-key style), it’s still a highly entertaining and well-designed experience. We found this room to be the perfect level of challenging, especially for our team of two with good escape room experience. It was tough but fair, requiring us to use ~2 hints and leaving us with just seconds to spare at the end. That said, we’d probably recommend doing this with more than two people, as it’s quite challenging and having a larger team would make the experience more manageable. The only downside we encountered was one particular puzzle that was mechanically frustrating. We knew exactly what to do, but executing it was tricky due to a mechanical issue. Thankfully, that didn’t detract too much from the overall experience. If you’re up for a solid challenge with classic-style puzzles, Quest for the Throne is a fantastic choice. It’s engaging, satisfying to solve, and an excellent introduction to the quality you can expect from Expedition Escape. Highly recommend this room and location for escape room enthusiasts.
