Legend has it that eons ago a dragon and phoenix found a large shiny stone by a stream. The dragon diligently honed it into a pearl glowing with prosperity. The phoenix then infused it with fire and the essence of longevity. Attracted by its fiery glow, a heavenly queen ordered her guards to descend to Earth to steal it one night as they slept. Upon learning of her treachery, the enraged dragon and phoenix flew up to the heavens to retrieve their beloved pearl. But as they scuffled with the queen, the pearl fell into a deep lake and was lost. An antiquities dealer found the mystical pearl during a recent expedition. He crafted it into a powerful amulet that has blessed him with good fortune and health. It's well hidden in a special room and protected by 12 exotic mechanisms inspired by the animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Your team of treasure hunters have managed to sneak into that room. But can you deactivate the challenging security system and steal the flaming pearl before being caught?

Really good room, good structure, clear what to do and what puzzle to work on. Well designed and really like that all the puzzles are mechanical and technical and no locks or numeral code cracking required. Well done :) Sizewise: when you are only 2-3 people, upside is you really get to do every single puzzle and can soak it all in. Downside, you have to be advanced and quick and get the puzzles done quick, otherwise you might not make it in time. There‘s a lot of puzzles to this room. When you are a lot of people, say 5 or maybe even more: Upside is, you get the room done in time easily as you can split up in little teams and work on multiple puzzles simultaneously. That‘s good. Downside, with too many people, from a single persons pov, you will miss out on half the puzzles or more and even though you‘ll make it in time, you will have no clue what the other little teams have actually done and what cool puzzles you missed out on. So both advantages and disadvantages. 🤷🏻♂️

This room was flat-out brilliant. Instantly jumped to my top 5. At first glance, it might seem a bit overwhelming, but it only took a minute to figure out where we should start, and everything from that point on was super straightforward. I quite liked being able to spend my time working on puzzles rather than wasting time figuring out where we should be looking. I really enjoyed the mix of puzzle types in the room. I appreciated that although there were starting points for many puzzles, there was a clear flow for which puzzles we should focus on and where we should move to each stage. The progress wheel was also a handy tool.
The room flowed really well. The puzzles are broken into chunks for each sign of the Chinese zodiac, and you always knew you were working on the right thing based on the animal that was featured.
The room was gorgeous. The theming and decor were expertly applied, and I kept stopping to gaze at the artifacts and decorations around the room.
Ruby was great as a GM. Not too intrusive, only chimed in once when we were really struggling.

The structure of the room, with the focus on the Chinese Zodiac, was very different and creative.

We played as a team of two which was a great experience as we could solve puzzles together or split up without fear of missing the big moments.

There was a small set of stairs to access one area. Nothing else about this room required physical exertion.
There was one sound-based puzzle that wouldn't be possible for hearing-impaired players. There also was a small set of stairs to access one area.

This room was fantastic!! Really great for larger groups as you work on different puzzles at the same time and they’re all well thought out mechanical puzzles not a lock in site. Not to give anything away but there’s an ingenious way of tracking which puzzles you’re on if you get lost. Love it!!
Flowed so well and has an in built tracking system for flow
The owner is always so lovely and happy to talk about the background of building the rooms

Absolutely fantastic room! Eclipse puts so much effort into their immersion and are dedicated to mechanical puzzles - not a traditional lock in sight. A compelling experience and great for a larger group, as many people can be occupied simultaneously. Loved it!

Had a Great night at Eclipse Escape tonight with Hannah and Dani. Felt very welcomed. The rooms were explained to us excellently and we had a Great time. Having only escaped one Room tonight would recommend more than two Escapees for this room as there are so many puzzles to complete. With the Design of the room and so much to see. 75 minutes flies by. Good luck guys

I recently completed the Flaming Pearl escape room with my partner for a special occasion, and we had an absolutely fantastic time! Having now experienced all of Eclipse’s escape rooms, I can confidently say that you can’t go wrong with any of them. The owner clearly pours so much heart and soul and creativity into each of these rooms, and Flaming Pearl is no exception. It is a valuable and unique addition to Surfers Paradise! From the moment you step inside, the room is visually exciting, with beautiful props and intricate details that seamlessly link together, and into the story. The puzzles themselves are fun and challenging, blending familiar games with creative twists. There’s just the right amount of challenge to keep you moving at a good pace. I highly recommend giving Flaming Pearl or any of the rooms at Eclipse a try. I can’t wait to see what the team at Eclipse comes up with next!

We absolutely loved this room! From start to finish it was beautiful, flowed well and was exciting. Some puzzles were challenging, but we loved that it was all high tech and represented the room well. Would highly recommend this room to anyone!
Great flow to ensure you didn’t get completely lost and kept you on track.
Atmosphere was fantastic. It was set beautifully the minute you walked in.

I would like to preface this by noting that the only two negative reviews for ‘The Flaming Pearl’ have been left by owner/operators of a neighbouring escape room located just 50 metres away from Eclipse. While they are clearly experienced players, it’s worth considering that their feedback does not fully reflect the experience offered by this room. The theme of a heist within a Chinese antique store in ‘The Flaming Pearl’ is unique and unlike any other in Australia. The puzzles are diverse, with many flowing naturally from one to the next, and the tracker for the room’s 12 zodiac animals is cleverly represented by a large wheel on the wall. This reinforces the theme and places the concept of the zodiac and the flow of animals at its core. From what I understand, the specific flow of animals is drawn from literature, so it is clear that significant time and effort went into creating this experience. There are cute moments, “a-ha” moments, and celebratory moments throughout the room. The feedback for each step of the game is enjoyable, and the way the room maintains an almost entirely textless experience is impressive. The puzzles make sense, and no leaps of logic are required to solve any part of the room. Some puzzles are tricky, to be sure, but not abstract. It’s a packed experience, busy with a mix of familiar and innovative puzzle designs, all with a focus on player enjoyment. We were a team of two, and while we didn’t rush, we took 68 minutes to complete the room—so you truly get your money’s worth. This was one of my favourite Eclipse experiences to date, and I can’t wait for their next game!
Flow was indicated by the large zodiac wheel prop, but the puzzles did have flow between them as well — many led on from one to the next. The idea of specific themed puzzles was fun!
Props are beautiful and many are genuine antiques!
The Eclipse staff are always kind and welcoming.

The theming of this room was nice and the space was used well however found that it fell a little bit short in terms of some of the play elements. This room is very linear in which you are guided to work on certain puzzles at once, these puzzles are also in isolated areas so do not need to do much searching kind of making it feel more like a puzzle room then escape room. Some of the puzzles could have been better worked to incorporate with the theme but overall definitely a must do escape room on the Gold Coast. We played as a group of two experienced players and finished with plenty of time left with no hints, but would be suitable for groups of 3-6.
