La Novia [The Bride]

If I played this game without knowing where it was and someone told me it was in Athens, I wouldn't blink an eye. Fantastic performance by the GM, swinging between pleading and ominous and frightening. Set and puzzles were pretty good, though I'd describe it more as a modest game executed very well than a blockbuster. I liked the system for forcing solo moments, and clear audio (particularly unusual in horror rooms) made it easy for those of us not chosen to follow along with what was happening. Having said that, I don't personally love horror, and so La Novia doesn't inherently appeal to me. some aspects of the horror didn't quite land - for me, (repeated) screaming at close range is more a source of annoyance than fear; I would have been more spooked if the balance was more towards jump scares and psychological tension.

This felt quite dated in comparison to more modern horror experiences in Spain and Athens.

Disappointed in the gameplay. Repetitive.

The Bride announces itself with one of the most effective opening sequences in recent memory: it's creepy, dread-soaked, and committed to its atmosphere in a way that immediately puts you on edge. The set is intimate rather than grand, but the low light and heavy fog do serious work, and the space feels much larger and more threatening than it actually is. There's a central mechanic introduced in the game that's a genuinely clever idea. The execution is constrained by the limits of a single-actor format, so the concept has more potential than one person can fully realize, but it still lands. This isn't a sprawling, technically complex room. It's a tight, well-paced atmospheric experience that knows what it's doing. And the character that has been created to guide us through this whole thing? Awesome. Absolutely worth your time.

Amazing amazing experience. Superb performance throughout the game which had us both screaming at times (mainly him) and not one for the faint hearted but well worth facing your fears as great story and puzzles to go with it. Definitely worth the ride out from Madrid, really well thought out and clever, go on, you must try it

The Bride was a well done horror room that made great use of environmental story telling. The set was on the simple side, but great use of light to guide us where we needed to go. Great showmanship by the owner and our GM. Tests of courage brought us apart and light drew us together. A cohesive storyline and wonderful performance. Bravo! 👏

Amazing game, amazing GM

I believe La Novia is the best horror experience in Madrid. Really immersive story while having super fun and challenging puzzles. This one is a must in Madrid!
