Italy in the Middle Ages The Middle Ages hold many dark secrets in store. This also led to the mysterious deaths of four monks. They were found lifeless in their monastery, but every trace of a perpetrator had already been blurred. In order to quickly provide the people with some responsibility, innocent women were condemned as witches and burned, and the next best monks were cruelly tortured. Investigations against the real perpetrator continued to fail. But the strange black spots on the tongues and fingertips of the four dead just won't let you calm down. Secret investigations eventually lead you to the highest tower of the monastery - a part of the library that is not accessible to everyone. When the old librarian leaves the mysterious premises for an hour-long session, you take your chance ... Can you find the last traces of the search for the murderer here?

230 escape rooms

The Secret of the Dead Monks by Finest Escape was the second escape room of the day for our team of 4 on our Bavarian Escape Tour, and the second out of 8 rooms we’re playing from this company on this trip. This is one of the earliest games created by Finest Escape, opened over 7 years ago, and part of the original four that launched the company. From the start, the intro was short but powerful, with great in-character acting by the GM, setting the mood immediately. The room has a monastery vibe, and the sound and lighting were nicely aligned to the theme, helping create an immersive environment throughout. Gameplay-wise, this is a classic escape room experience: a blend of traditional padlocks and modern mechanisms, with a good puzzle flow. We escaped with 12 minutes to spare, so it leans a bit on the easier side, especially for experienced groups. At the end, we were nicely given the opportunity to take our group photo with the monk (GM/actor), which added a personal and thematic touch. That said, it’s worth noting that the photo location is generic and used for all rooms, having a unique, themed photo spot per game could enhance the finish. Overall, this room is recommended for all players, and a great introduction to escape rooms for newer teams. It’s a solid, classic experience done with care.
