US Highway 19 Motel It's raining non-stop and you found yourselves stranded on the side of the road close to US Highway 19 motel. Rumors have it that the owners' only son has been acting odd since his mother passed away. It's been months since the last time someone has seen him out. There is no real answers on what happened to his mother either. The storm is getting worse, and you desperately need a place to stay. Despite the rumors, you have no choice but to check-in. Will you and your friends manage to check out? Or will this night get even worse? Good luck!

Yikes. This is a great example of a room that breaks every golden rule of escape rooms imaginable. Poor construction , an unfocused, confused (and confusing) story, and multiple puzzles that are not only NOT in theme, but just plain don’t work or logically don’t make sense at all. Flow. It’s a word you see used a lot in reviews, but it cannot be stressed enough. Flow, flow, flow is the single most important thing an escape room must have in order to succeed. I can forgive bad set decor and limited budgets if the game is at least well thought out and makes the most of what they have to work with. This did none of that, and just left us scratching our heads for the majority of its duration. I hate giving bad reviews, because I don’t like hurting small businesses, but occasionally it’s unavoidable. With the ever changing and growing expectations of today’s escape room landscape, and the fact this costs $32 PER PERSON for a below sub par experience, it’s actually offensive. It’s not fun. It’s not clever. It’s cheap, worn out, nonsensical, braindead and ugly. And you should absolutely avoid it, at all costs.

My group and I really wanted to give this room the benefit of the doubt but it ended out being very disappointing. We’ve played other haunted hotel themed rooms before, and they were far better than this outing. The gameplay did not flow well at all, the storyline was very confusing and hard to follow. The game master ended up having to come and let us out of the room because the final puzzle was not plugged in and didn’t trigger the game completion notif.

The gameplay felt very disjointed, I think it would’ve been far better to complete all of the puzzles in a single room before moving onto the next.
Atmosphere
While the atmosphere in the first room was very promising, the other two rooms felt like they belonged to an entirely different theme.
Customer service
Our game master, Amethyst, was very sweet and did a fantastic job explaining their rules to us and making us feel very welcome and taken care of.

The story was extremely hard to follow, I think they were going for a Norman Bates type thing, but it made almost no sense at all.

It’s okay. Functional but not exceptional. I really really liked the theme a lot and wish it had been pushed further but I guess it’s a budgetary constraint. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon so there’s that at least.
