You and your friends have been kidnapped by Edward Tandy -- a cannibalistic serial killer with a fine taste for unique electronics, taxidermy, and of course human flesh. He has created a sick and twisted game of sorts in his deceased mother's home. He hopes to weed out the unintelligent and find those who are worthy of escaping by his late mother's standards. In THE BASEMENT, you and your team will have to employ keen communication skills, a finely tuned organizational prowess, and a general ability to keep your shit together under pressure if you want to survive. This is what we like to call a funnel puzzle where you will find numerous items and clues throughout the room. These items all come together to orchestrate your escape.

We've done quite a few rooms and almost always escape. We didn't get close (around 60%). We should have gotten more clues when stuck. Great room with great atmosphere. Puzzles are logical, but quite difficult and time consuming. You need to be making progress...

Loved this room. Great mix of tech and locks, loved the set & live actor(s). The plot was great. We had a team of two and still managed to escape. I wouldn't say it was exceptionally hard, I'm surprised It's marked as "expert". It was definitely challenging. Loved the SFX and the actor(s) and game master were phenomenal. The overall vibe in the place is awesome. We even got a t-shirt. Loved it!

Loved the set design and the atmosphere. We all had a lot of fun with this one. Puzzles were on the easier side but some unique ideas and they kept everyone engaged. Rooms with actors generally always elevate the fun and immersion and this one was no exception.

Having played all 4 Basement games in California, I had an idea of what this game was going to be like, and had hopes that this Unhinged version would be different than the original Basement. I was very happy to find out they definitely amped up the scare factor and itβs completely different from the original Basement game. There were very unique puzzles that I have not seen before. We did not escape but were pretty close. I do feel that this should be a 60 minute game, not a 45 minute game with the amount of puzzles involved. Thatβs the only critique. Very tough for a group of 2. Still had a great time though and highly recommend if you enjoy a scary game! Game master and actor were also great!

I saw the door easily but my partner did not. It easily blends in with the building itβs shared with.

My favorite out of the three rooms The Basement has offered in Kansas City. Well-polished and equipped with a variety of puzzles/special effects to make it feel the most immersive out of the three.
