Arriving in New York with nothing but four cents and a letter of recommendation, Nikola Tesla’s success was nothing short of remarkable. Despite his humble beginnings, he became one of the greatest inventors of the 20th century, largely responsible for Alternating Current, radio transmission, X-rays, remote controls, induction motors, and many more. Despite his success, Tesla’s ambitions eventually, however, outgrew the scope of what his financiers could ever be expected to support. After the failure of Wardenclyffe Tower—an attempt at wireless transmission of both signals and energy—he was left to his own finances, and he started sinking every last penny he had into his inventions. Eventually, Tesla seemed to disappear. News reports of his inventions dried up, and the world largely forgot about someone who was once dubbed as The Man of Tomorrow. Until now. A dossier appears on your desk, compiled by one of Tesla’s recent assistants. Inside this dossier is a plan for a device that can level an entire city. Also included is a plan for Tesla to show off this device’s power and to then blackmail governments into further funding his research into wireless energy transmission. The only way of enabling or disabling the device is a remote control mechanism from inside of Tesla’s study. Today just so happens to be the day Tesla is visiting the device to make some final changes before activation. You have one hour to get inside of his study and remotely disable the device before it goes off.
