I have mixed feelings about Non Believers. On the positive side, the set is large and interesting, and there are a variety of unexpected set transitions that are surprising in vision. There's an unusual story that is interwoven with puzzles. Unfortunately, (almost?) all the set transitions are glacially slow; I found myself wishing that there was some way to speed them up. Multiple puzzles felt very tedious and overstayed their welcome. Other puzzles could have used better signposting. Overall it's interesting and worth a shot, but it felt surprisingly uneven.

one of the early transitions is breathtaking. Walls slip aside. Things appear. It's the first sign that this game isn't going to play by traditional rules. But it's all part of the storytelling. Exploration as revelation. The space is vast. You think you have seen everything, and then the floor plan ruptures. And the story here is grim. It asks you to consider the cost of belief and the damage that can be done in its name. Not everything worked. One early puzzle was finicky in the way that frustrated us... we understood the solution but couldn't get it to function. The other puzzles were logical and layered without ever being the stars of the show. They were in service of the narrative. Speaking of narrative, whatever the opposite of cathartic is, that's what I felt at the end of the game. That narrative had a residue that lingered. (note: there was one thing that happened in this game that made me realize that I'm mildly claustrophobic... it's the first time I've ever experienced that)

Lots of spectacle, and a clear storyline throughout. Right at the start, you realise what you are in for, and that is great. There is a clear storyline that is woven throughout. We found some of the puzzles a little tedious or repetitive, but that could perhaps have been remedied were we more than two players. And there weren't any puzzles that really excited us, and we felt the 2 hour time slot was due to the puzzles being long-winded at times. In the end, it was a good experience. If you are one who likes production and spectacle, definitely check this one out.

TLDR: Book early, stellar staff, π€― effects, dark and compelling narrative, spooky not scary, some tedious puzzles, bring 4 people, absolutely do this amazing room. First things first, this room was booked solid the week we came, so plan ahead if youβre visiting because you must do this room. We came to do Rebecca at 10pm but the game masters were so utterly amazing they stayed SUPER late to get us into this game. Canβt say how grateful we are. I think this room breaks every record of how many ways you can move and use a space. It started right from the top and the π€― reveals just kept coming. There are no words to capture the construction feats of this room. The narrative was super dark but very compelling, and the narrative builds as the room goes on. Big kudos for this. This room is spooky, but any fear you have is in your head. This roomβs objective is not to scare you. We pride ourselves on doing rooms with two people that many claim need at least four. This is the first time we will concede that you should probably bring at least 3, but ideally 4 people. It is absolutely doable with 2, but a couple of the puzzles were extremely time consuming and additional hands would move you faster and reduce frustration. We are game for hard puzzles, what we are not crazy about are puzzles that, once solved, take FOREVER to complete. But again, at least the puzzles were mostly supporting the narrative. Slightly stronger puzzles would have scored this very high, but it still comes in at #10 on our Top Ten list at time of writing. Escape Couple rating: 6 ποΈ: Best of the best (we use a 1-6ποΈ rating scale)
We took issue with a couple puzzles in this room. Itβs frustrating when youβve solved a puzzle but then it takes FOREVER to complete it. More people in your group will alleviate this (to a point).
Wow wow wow. π€― Mind blown so many times.
Seriously: the best. Stayed until 2am so we could do the room (WAY past opening hours)

This company just seems to sit around and think of new and crazy things they can do with a set.

Oh man, we did it with two but four is ideal if you care about your time. Some puzzles take a LONG time and more hands and eyes help.

Really enjoyed Non Believers. The beginning is certainly memorable. There were a couple of times our team of two could have used some better cluing but overall we had a great experience. Our GM was wonderful too. One or two puzzles could have been better but didnβt detract from a great time.

The beginning is surprising, and then one technical wow-effect follows another. The puzzles are creative and complex but very well designed. Toward the end, there was an effect that definitely requires courage. However, if you donβt want to do it, you can still complete the room. I was definitely relieved when that moment was over. Overall, a fantastic game, and the three years of development are clearly visible.

This game contains one of the most wildly impressive build outs Iβve ever experienced. It was truly unpredictable and we had no idea where the adventure would physically take us next. This is the main reason you should play this game. I am in awe of what they have created here. That being said, the puzzling was not to my taste and I imagine it drags down many other players as well. Several verrrry long tedious process puzzles. During one especially long puzzle I was scared perhaps we missed one move and would need to recheck our work and I donβt know if I had the heart to do it all over again if that was the case. I would love to see Your Escape lean more into what makes them great, their sense of wonder and adventure. Most puzzles could be 50-70% shorter and it would only strengthen the experience. Regardless, this puts Your Escape on the map for me and I am absolutely interested to play anything else they create.
