516 escape rooms

The operators said this was their easiest room; I don’t know if I agree (having played them all). It had the fewest puzzles, for sure, but the puzzles are multi-step and require good use of different skills including physical coordination of multiple team members. The physical space is small, though, so I would not recommend going in with more than 2-3 people. There is some wear and tear, which is unfortunate, but everything was still solvable. We had a good time.

Gameplay

The first puzzle starts before you actually get into the room (this is not a spoiler; it is unavoidable that this would be true, but the fact that they made a puzzle out of it was very clever). The rest of the puzzles are reasonably challenging and mostly require multiple steps.

Very friendly and enthusiastic staff.

Story

A famous painting is missing and you need to solve a bunch of puzzles to find it. That’s not particularly novel as a theme, but I was impressed by how thoroughly all the puzzles stayed on theme. I couldn’t say more without spoilers, but it would have been easy for them to make the puzzles in a different way that would have been much less tightly connected to the theme. The way they did it makes the game harder, but not in a bad way, and I respect that they didn’t take the easy way out.

We played with five and that was way too many. It’s a small space. That said, you do need at least two people to perform specific coordinated physical actions and I don’t think one person could reach everything at the same time.

A lot of fragile stuff in the room and puzzles that require some degree of dexterity.

Would recommend. Enjoyed having to find the room from the main office. Puzzles were fairly straightforward, but not too easy. A mix of lock boxes and other types.

The theming was well done and fairly convincing for the time period. Pleased there was a fan in the room to help keep it cool.

Rating: 3/5 - Small, single room, nothing particularly memorable or interesting It is a single room experience, not high budget but the set looked nice enough and everything was well lit. I did like the puzzles, they were mostly mechanica/physical interactions with padlocks. Puzzles are not very linear so you can do things in parallel. There is one tech based puzzle at the end which made the ending satisfying. The GM was very friendly and helpful. The room is small and not difficult so I wouldn't recommend more than 3 enthusiasts. They only allow 3 hints but I'm not sure if they are strict about that, we didn't need that many as a team of 2.

We found street parking in front of the building, they are pull-in spots, not parallel parking. Street parking is free on Sundays.

4 escape rooms

Get Out Bloomington, formerly Code and Key Escape, put together an easy, but very well designed DaVinci room on a budget. The plan to get out is laid out for you in the beginning so you know what you need to solve right away and can get at it. All four puzzles can be worked simultaneously. Each puzzle is quite unique. Even if you like a challenge, this is still an enjoyable room. They have a period looking copper box to talk with the GM which may seem cheap but worked well. There is no countdown timer, maybe they should install a hour hourglass.

A fun little room! Unique in some aspects with good flow and all the puzzles made sense. The game master was friendly. My one complaint is there is no way to see your time in the room and their communication system is not the best. She had to physically come into the room to tell us our time and to give hints which did kind of take us out of the moment.

Gameplay

The game play was mostly good on the flow! The puzzles were extremely unique and lots of symbols to connect them to each other!

Atmosphere

A unique little room! Very much fit the theme and was put together very well!

Customer service

The staff were very welcoming. The communication system is not the greatest so our GM had to pop in physically to check on us and give us our time (no clock in the room) but they were extremely friendly!

We (experienced escapers and game masters) played it with just the two of us and found it just the right amount of challenging. Sometimes even over complicating it but was a good size room for no more than 4
