Steampunk Alice

Tech was so old and worn out it had us stuck multiple times. GM didn't help with letting us know we were right but it was technology. Ambiance was cool though. Puzzle ls just ok.

Interesting theme and set design, and the room is definitely playable. However, a few things were glitchy—sometimes we had the correct solution but the mechanism didn’t trigger, which seemed to be due to the room being older. Some of the puzzles also felt a bit random rather than intuitive. We were given a broken flashlight and the room was very dim, which made it difficult to see instructions and clues. Overall an interesting concept, but the technical issues made the experience a bit frustrating.

This was definitely fun, the room decorations are incredible- but some of the puzzles were bugged or broken. We spent a bunch of extra time on something that should’ve worked the first time we tried it. We ended up having to brute force the puzzle since the mechanism wouldn’t work. We finished with plenty of time to spare and I wonder just how fast we would have done it if we hadn’t had technical problems. The rooms are sometimes louder than the story sound projection and it made it hard to get direction and understand what was next. It’s sometimes hard to know why something is working and to care when so many puzzles can be trial and errored. Overall fun, gorgeous rooms and set pieces, but the puzzles could use a little love and the sound could be more balanced.

This was an awesome twist on the Alice story. Forget everything you know about wonderland.

Each room teleports you to a new stage in the story, maybe the most unexpected Alice version you can encounter. The set, the props, the characters are amazing, very detailed, and you can feel the love that went into the world building. Each character you encounter on the way are pulling you more into the story. That being said, the puzzles are unique and creative but most of them are a bit “in your face” — you solve if you see, you don’t if you don’t read. Maybe except the first one… anyway. Lastly, Persy was our GM, very helpful, very enthusiastic, and fun to play together.

Unique and fun story with some innovative puzzles. Really enjoyed this room.

Such a creative take on the Alice story. One-of-a-kind set designs—hadn’t seen anything like it. Definitely recommend!!

This room really is a triumph of design, with an amazing level of imagination and detail. What prevents the love rating is that the puzzles themselves are perhaps not at quite the same level as the design. But well worth doing, and every room in this location is fun (Men in Suits is actually my favorite).
