56 escape rooms
The door closes and a video starts playing in the dimly lit basement room. A madman explains how we have fallen into his trap while slowly sharpening his knives. But he is willing to give us a chance. He knows that his own daughter has escaped his clutches before and left clues for his next victims. If we manage to escape with her help before the hour is up, we will regain our freedom. The intro video was filmed in the very same room, which has a great effect and really helps establish the creepy atmosphere. The only thing missing is the mark in the table from where the knife is hammered into it during the video. The room itself is decorated to a madman's taste, with cages, bloodstains and poor lighting. Fortunately, there are a couple of flashlights available, allowing you to get some extra light on things that might otherwise be difficult to see. Overall, the room is well designed, but unfortunately there are quite a few markings indicating things that should not be touched, as well as several props that feel a little too much like plastic, which takes away from the illusion. The room is multi-linear, so there are plenty of things to work on from the start. This supports breakoutroom.dk's recommendation that the room can be played by between 3 and 6 people. Physically, however, we feel that 4 people is the ideal number for this room, as with more people you may start getting in each other's way and miss some of the puzzles. It is worth noting that the pricing at breakoutroom.dk varies quite a lot, from DKK 1,800 per room to DKK 200 per person. This means there is potentially 66% to be saved with a last-minute deal if you are a group of three.
