My friend and I decided to tackle The Illusionist as our next room! We made reservations for a 10:15am game on a Sunday. According to a staff member, The Illusionist is one of the original "OG" rooms, and my friend liked the idea of a magic-themed room. Customer service continued to be friendly and welcoming. Regarding gameplay, I actually have different critiques of The Illusionist than the Candy Factory. Overall, we had fun, and there were several puzzles in the room that I thought were well done. The first thing I would like to see is more interconnectivity between the puzzles. It was unclear what led to what or what unlocked what, which meant trying a code on everything instead of using deduction to figure out where to use it. The other thing I wished would change were that about 40% of the clues weren't really related to magic, the theme of the room. If they were, it wasn't obvious! My hint to those who are attempting this room is to search dark spaces carefully.
