Great theming and effects! I love that they’re tapping into folklore that many people aren’t familiar with, but it helps educate about Latin American culture. I was just a tiny bit disappointed because I was so in love with La Llorona, which was in the same spot the year prior, but that’s probably me being unfair. I’m very excited to see what they do with the sequel this year!

A pleasant surprise, Monstruous was one of Universal's original offerings for the 2023 year. The maze benefitted from strong set design and memorable key moments. I will never forget the image of El Silbon ripping out a victim's spine with his bare hands, a la Mortal Kombat. While the story may or may not make sense (I am biased since I watched John Murdy describe the maze in great detail during Midsummer Scream), I felt that the pacing was nice and primed the viewers with enough info to signal that they would meet a different creature from folklore.

This was the last one we did, so we were VERY tired. The wait said only 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to about 1h30 Inside the house was pretty cool and inspired me to look into Latin folklore!
