Franz Huber & Frau Adelina opened Frothy Top Brewery in 1907 in Germany. It since expanded to the US with their amazing secret family recipe. Since their passing, the recipe has been handed down through the generations and you are invited to come and visit Frothy Top brewery in the Key City. The only thing is....the original recipe is nowhere to be found! You must find it before the boil clock runs out so the beer does not get ruined!!

5 escape rooms

Unfortunately, I (and my group) disliked this room. The quality of the set pieces left a lot to be desired. The room felt haphazardly put together with what felt like leftover puzzle components from past iterations of the same room. There was no cohesion between the puzzles and their respective locks, with some containers literally being blank boxes of wood with a padlock attached. I cannot in good conscience recommend this room in its current state to anyone. It’s clear the room was made on a budget, yet I don’t feel this room was given the level of care and attention to detail it needs to be an enjoyable experience. I sincerely hope the GMs take this feedback as an opportunity to give the room a facelift.

Gameplay

The room felt like the GMs decided to change up the puzzles in the room every so often rather than designing new rooms. There were tons of unused set pieces and codes that went nowhere.

Atmosphere

It was pretty middle of the road. Nothing outstanding but nothing remarkable either.

Customer service

There was only one staff member who was doubling as the greeter and our GM. This left us stuck for several minutes without the ability to ask for a hint.

Particularly interesting or different

No

There were no innovative or unique ideas at play here.

Story

The “story” made no sense at all. There is an “Art of War” by Sun Tzu book for absolutely no reason other than to be a hollowed out container for a puzzle.

Difficulty

Medium

The puzzles themselves were not so difficult as they were vague. They required little-to-no thinking. The difficulty came from the overwhelming ambiguity as to which codes went to which locks. There are MANY codes, including unused codes and numbers, all over the room, along with a handheld blacklight that serves no purpose than to add more codes.

Game tech

Mechanical

There is a single, small “high tech” piece of a puzzle. The entire rest of the room is locked and key or some form of padlock.

Ideal number of players

2

The room was so small that four people already felt like too many. There’s no circulation in the room either, so be warned for those with heat intolerances.

Scary

Not scary

Minimum age

13

The room simply isn’t intuitive enough for me to consider it child friendly. Almost every single puzzle is also chest-height making it impossible for kids to participate in the majority of the room.

Was anything broken?

Yes

One particular puzzle had some color-coded painted bits separated into five segments. One of the segments’ paint was almost completely scratched off forcing us to ask for a hint to figure out what we were missing.

Live actors

No

Physically active

Not at all

Required some amount of kneeling for a couple of puzzles but almost everything was at chest-height or easily reachable while standing.

Accessibility

It will be almost impossible to do if you are color blind without hints. There are several segments requiring color matching in a dim room and the colors are very similar.

Easy to find location

Yes

Parking

Easy
