Quite a memorable game, with a large number of puzzles that were really fun to interact with, all brought to life by an incredibly detailed environment, props large and small, and a very funny and unique guide to every nook and cranny of the space.
A large number of self-contained puzzles that could each be solved in a couple of minutes, which all utilized a random collection of things you’d find in someone’s attic. The puzzles were just plain fun, and never felt too tedious.
Lots of attention to detail with the props, scenery, sound design, and lighting. It was fun interacting with props of all shapes and sizes - from oversized objects to the tiniest of details.
Jon was a fantastic GM, and guided us through the experience perfectly. He gave us the right amount of cluing, and was able to adapt our order of puzzles based on the objects we had already found and the types of tasks he noticed us enjoying the most.
Particularly interesting or different
Yes
This game doesn’t follow the typical escape room format. Instead, you are guided through a series of individual tasks, challenges, and puzzles one-by-one, always returning to home base before embarking on another one. Because of this, groups of all solving speeds will be rewarded with a full session of puzzling, without feeling like you failed or missed out on a lot.
The story had a particularly strong start and finish, and the midpoints of the game also kept reminding us of the main characters and expanding the story world.
A large number of puzzles to get to. I’d venture to guess that an average player will find it difficult to complete every single puzzle within the time frame, but none of the puzzles themselves felt particularly difficult or overly challenging.
Lots of boxes to physically unlock, but a lot of the contents inside contained high tech puzzles.
Low lighting and an abandoned attic environment, but no jump scares or anything frightening. In fact, the main character you interact with is quite funny.
One box popped open a little early, but was quickly addressed in the proper way. Everything was reset properly 🙂
But you do meet and interact with a fun character
Physically active
Somewhat
One person is required to crawl, duck, and step up/down. There are some larger props that need to be moved around, too, but none that are super heavy.
Accessibility
Entrance to game is on the second level, up a flight of steps. After that, the game is almost entirely level, except for one player who will need to crawl/step/duck.
Story and hints are given via audio in the game.
A couple of puzzles require color differentiation.
They have their own parking lot with dedicated spaces
The front door to the game was unlocked and always nearby.
