148 escape rooms
One of many very cool things at the Lodge: Each escape room has a dedicated “artifact” that allows you to interact with the strange artwork, vaguely steampunk devices, and antique ephemera that fills the sprawling corridors and anterooms of the Lodge. You can’t even ENTER your escape room until you’ve solved some puzzles using this artifact, after which point the proper escaping begins. We thought this was a really cool way to lead into the experience, creating a strong thematic cohesion and taking advantage of the hallways and in-between spaces that 99% of escape room companies ignore. There is a chalkboard in this room, and you are going to need it. In fact, multiple rooms at the Lodge feature chalkboards, and so do some of the rooms at Puzzleworks a few miles away. Maybe this is a Minneapolis thing? Oddly enough, out 150 rooms played, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a chalkboard in an escape room before. This is a one-room experience, but featured a number of really fun and novel puzzles in a compact space. Our group consisted of 3 players, which was perfect. There’s not really enough for 4 players to do, but plenty for 3. This photo depicts one of the weird hallways, it’s not a photo of the room itself.
