Handcuffed across from your closest friends within an abandoned shipping container you survey the eerie space around you, suddenly an immense sense of dread takes hold as you realise you can hear one of the nearby crates breathing... Mad Monster is a seated, single room escape experience designed to provide a spooky treat for players of all skill levels. It walks the line between a "Tourist game with a gimmick" and "having something cool for experienced players" really, really well. I would recommend this for players of all tastes and experience levels.

Mad Monster exhibits expert use of a small space with a strong concept and great theming execution. It has great theatrics, a lovely finale and a good variety of intuitive puzzles with natural flow. Maybe best suited for a smaller group. When we arrived at Lost Locks we were greeted very warmly by Ryan who was lovely to chat to. We felt very generously taken care of by our game master Sam, her intros really drew you in and set the scene and her enthusiastic debriefs were much appreciated. This business has really wonderful top tier games and we can't wait to come back and try some more. The atmosphere is fun, the vibes are excellent and we're very excited to see what games they release in the future.

Staff were good. Shame a few things didn’t work (ending wasn’t as good as it could have been) and unfortunately the handcuffs got stuck so I couldn’t stay on the ground to play

Lost Locks’s latest offering centres on a wonderfully unique mechanic — you are chained across the room from one another, and you must communicate to escape the experience. ‘Mad Monster’ features a spooky aesthetic without leaning heavily into horror, making it accessible to most audiences. The puzzles are clearly clued, and their spacing around the room is equitable so that all players can be involved. ‘Mad Monster’s aesthetics make for a very immersive experience, and the way the room changes throughout the game is a delight to witness. It all builds to a stunning final puzzle that I can say is my favourite puzzle to date. ‘Mad Monster’ is a great addition to Lost Locks’s collection of rooms. They did a wonderful job designing this game. It’s a standout for the Gold Coast and not to be missed.
The game centres on the mechanic of being chained on opposing sides of the room to one another through the floor and having to communicate what you see with the other half of the team. It’s well balanced in terms of puzzle placement and equity for player engagement. The puzzle flow is essentially linear, and the room changes throughout the experience to maximise the diversity of puzzles offered. It’s an impressive design with a great puzzle at its climax, scaffolded by players learning the rules and mechanics of the game as they move through the experience. It’s my favourite escape room puzzle so far.
The room’s aesthetics and puzzle design was wonderful. The spacing out of puzzle props and design flourishes are carefully placed. The lighting was a delight as well!
Lost Locks’s team are wonderful. They are so inclusive and welcoming.

The story was a fun concept and the subtle references to their other rooms weren’t missed!

Interesting concept that you are in handcuffs the whole time, not a lot of puzzles but I think appropriate for the experience. Clever use of space and props. My favourite rooms at Lost lock so far
Staff are great at Lost lock.

Simple but different setup, you will have more fun if you had played their other rooms as there are Easter eggs from other tooms' stories.

Well, as the name suggested, there is a mad monster so you can decide if it's ok for your kid or not.
