Permanently Closed - New for 2024 -- You just wanted to meet your study group before the alchemy exam but someone had to try the spell written in the margins. Now you’re trapped in a secret laboratory and its usual occupant doesn’t just sip tea and grow flowers. Curses and hexes abound and the incantation on the chamber can’t be broken until you discover the secret. Great. Medium-hard level difficulty puzzles using a variety of senses and skills. Takes place in low-light conditions. Reading and hearing are required to solve puzzles. Certain accommodations can be made on request. Arrive on time to be sure you have the full 45 minutes to play. Please be courteous and respectful to other participants, please be gentle with props and puzzles! An on-site facilitator will be ready to assist you if things don’t work as expected.
138 escape rooms
Rating: 2.5/5 For a pop-up, this is decent but there is very little immersion since it's a temporary space set up in a hotel. It's mostly a bunch of lockboxes and decorations placed on tables. There was only 1 tech interaction and unfortunately it wasn't working properly. Puzzles were OK, though the ending was fun. The GM was helpful and made the experience better. I played as a group of 4 and there still wasn't enough for everyone to be busy the whole time so playing with the 8 max would be way too many people. Considering the cost is $30 for such a low tech room, the value is not great, especially since the time limit is only 42 min. If you are at Gen Con, I would rate Pop-Up Escape Room's games slightly higher than this. They have slightly better immersion, more tech, more interesting puzzles, and the cost is cheaper. But neither company is great. If CU Adventures brings another escape room to Gen Con in the future, I'd highly recommend them, they are on another level.
