Allister we found your secret! Lots of fun on this one. Fun puzzles and very smooth gameplay. Looking forward to their new room when it opens!

We don’t know much about eccentric globetrotter Allister, except that he collects artwork from his many travels around the world, and he has turned his mansion into an escape room to see if anyone is smart enough to solve all of his clues and puzzles. Your team has agreed to take on this monumental challenge. Now, you have one hour to meet these three goals: discover Allister’s true identity; find his most prized possession, which is hidden somewhere in the room; and return the item to him in order to escape before the time runs out!

This was one of the best escape rooms we have done so far. Love all the puzzles and intricate mechanical moving parts etc. and that is all I will say as I don’t want to give anything away.

So fun! Lots of puzzles and movement and great decor, it was all around fantastic!

My husband and I did a weekend trip and did all six rooms! These are all amazing rooms that you must do if you get the chance. Bring a team of four. There is so much to see and do that even if you could do it with a smaller team you'll want to be able to have the opportunity to take it all in. The staff was super nice in that they let us complete all of the rooms even though our time had run out on 5 of the 6 rooms. They aren't very chatty but I chalk that up to the amount of reset they need to do after a team works their way through the game. The sets are next level and are some of the best I have come across. Every detail is thought out to such an amazing degree. Kudos to the set team who designed the sets. The puzzles are beyond excellent! The flow was exceptional in every room! I won't go into super detail because these all need to be experienced! If you have any questions, please reach out to me! Loved, loved, loved this entire experience!!

Our team of 4 discovered Allister’s secret and found his treasure. Such a fun and clever room! Lots of puzzles and we all had at least one big solve moment. The last section was delightful. Thanks so much!

Puzzles themselves weren’t too challenging but there were so many of them. Our group of 4 was about the right number.

Oh this was such a wonderfully fun game! The power of observation was key here, as in many escape rooms, the details were impeccable and the puzzles were intuitive. We had an absolute blast and were tickled pink by the ending. I would highly recommend this game to anyone, we played with 2 of us and though we don't remember the exact time we had left, we made it out with no hints that we recall.

If you are newer, I think more people would be beneficial, but as enthusiasts, 2 was great!

I'll check 'no' because I broke it - whoopsy - but it was a piece they say breaks fairly often, and our game master was quick to come and swap in a replacement!

I had been waiting on this room for over 2 years. When I saw that it was finally open, I had to make that trip from NY just to play. We had a group of 7 players and met Renee the owner again. This room had a lot if mechanics in it, some fun surprises, and really great puzzles. Our GM Camden was great. This place overall had some really great rooms and I will be on the lookout for new rooms.

Maine Escape Games is a company I can count on to deliver excellent, tangible, puzzle-forward experiences with both unique settings and shocking amounts of high quality content per game - included many fun and surprising twists. Allister’s Secret pushes further into puzzle design than their previous games, allowing its classy and minimalist set to hide a plethora of satisfying secrets. While the set is nice, interactive, and everything looks right, it’s not the focus. Instead, I think this has many of their best puzzles and will appeal to practically anyone who likes puzzles - from large teams of beginners to smaller, more concentrated enthusiast groups. There’s a massive assortment of practically every kind, often baked into the set and making use of fantastically integrated environmental cluing. Nothing was overly difficult - the volume crated the complexity as there was always a lot to do and many avenues open at any given time. The best made use of beautifully constructed contraptions, many presented through classically intellectual / highbrow props (which made the puzzles thematic beyond their integration into the set). The few low points are mostly trivial. Two puzzles were a little underclued - while superficially obvious, I think some added complexity might actually make it less confusing. A few required mild outside knowledge: this is a tricky one because one in particular was excellent as a set of clues, but in practice would require somewhat specific knowledge (this puzzle is relatively easy to bypass with partial knowledge). As a small overall note - I think there was an opportunity to increase the drama of the experience. The narrative is interesting, the moments are fun, and there’s a great twist - but there was an opportunity for more emphasis in both the reactions from the set, and from the flow of the story. To be clear, this is indicative of a game in the upper echelon of the medium - many games never reach a level where the only real major improvement would be to make it “cinematic”, so to have that as a goal shows everything else is already pretty much perfect. Even if it isn’t necessarily a “dramatic” game, there’s plenty of wow moments in terms of solves, transitions, and interactions that absolutely make this a premier game in the New England area. I would highly recommend a visit to Maine Escape Games for all their games, from their older games that got me to their newest, high tech experiences.
With the exception of two puzzles that seemed a little underclued, the variety and quality of content on display was impressive.
Simple, elegant, and with plenty of depth and hidden elements.
