24 escape rooms

Overall, it was a fine game, and worth doing if you have time after doing a tour of the prison. The price was very reasonable, and it was unique because there aren’t many escape rooms inside (former) prisons.

Gameplay

There were some great, unique puzzles. We also liked the lights tracking your progress through the puzzles. The flow was interrupted by too many props, unclear lighting, distracting sounds, and several similar components to separate puzzles. It was also unclear how many parts were necessary for at least one of the puzzles.

Atmosphere

The set design was great…lots of props/decor to make the lab really feel apocalyptic. However, some participants may find much of the 2nd room pretty disturbing. While all the props and lights added to the overall vibe, they added a lot of red herrings and made it much more difficult to know what to focus on.

Customer service

The GM was great! Super flexible and welcoming! He even took time to let us preview the cabin room.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

The lab scenario was neat. We enjoyed it. We’ve done a few lab-themed rooms before, but none that also involved zombies.

Difficulty

Hard

It’s helpful to have at least a few experienced players on your team because there were several puzzles that weren’t super intuitive.

Good balance of both

Ideal number of players

3

We did it with 2; would’ve probably been better with 3-4. Much more than that, it would be challenging to know where to focus.

Spooky

It’s more creepy than spooky.

Some tricky puzzles and disturbing props

Was anything broken?

Yes

One thing was reset in the wrong spot, but it wasn’t a huge deal. The GM popped in to get it sorted.

Accessibility

Lots of space to move in; no climbing or crawling necessary; several color-related puzzles; there was a pretty loud beeping every few minutes that seemed relevant like we solved a puzzle or something but the GM confirmed it served no purpose The escape rooms are located on the 3rd floor of the former prison. Several steps or an elevator to get to the escape rooms.

Easy to find location

Yes

It’s inside a former prison; lots of signage and helpful tour guides to help you find the escape rooms

Nice-sized parking, close to the entrance of the building

Good escape room! On the easier side and public. Luckily the girls we played with were chill.

Overall, this was a great room. It was themed well and had great puzzles. It’s intended for more experienced players but newer players could enjoy the room if they are with someone more experienced or do the Shawshank room at this location first. I gave this room a like instead of a love because of my personal preference for the theme. Someone else booked the room for our group and I wasn’t aware there would be props with blood and that’s something I’m not personally fond of. Otherwise, I would have given this room a love. If you or someone in your group has sensory needs, there is a flickering light that they cannot turn off. I’m autistic and the light bothered me in the beginning but I adjusted to it. I’d say my sensory issues are mild so if someone in your group has moderate to severe light sensitivity that may be something to consider. While personal needs/preferences are something to consider when booking this room, it’s overall a great experience and I highly recommend it.

Gameplay

This room had a great flow. Our group (4 experienced players) felt the clues were logical and challenging, but not frustrating. Each puzzle made sense for the story so nothing felt like “Why am I doing this?”

Atmosphere

The decor was great for the theme. It was well thought out and immersive. There is a section with props that may upset younger or more sensitive players. The props were on theme and well done but be sure everyone in your group is aware. I wasn’t the one who booked the room for our group so I wasn’t fully aware of the theme and props with blood or fake bodies isn’t my thing. If that is your thing, this room will be great for you.

Customer service

The GM was great. He was very personable and gave good clues. He stayed and talked with us about the room afterwards and answered questions we had. He explained the rules clearly and ran the room well.

Physically active

Not at all

I did this room five months pregnant and felt it wasn’t physically active. You do have to climb stairs to the third floor to do the room but there is an elevator if that’s a concern. The room itself had little to no bending down, no crawling, and of course no heavy lifting.
