JotaMatador
238 escape rooms
El Ojos de Horus was played as a team of two, and we were welcomed very warmly by the owner. The company has been open for just over a year, and it’s worth noting that the escape room scene in Chile is still very much emerging, with this experience clearly aimed at a family-friendly local audience with little to no prior escape room experience. The location is just behind Avenida del Mar, close to the main beach area. The room itself is simply decorated, but it does convey the Egyptian theme well enough. From a gameplay perspective, around 90% of the puzzles are padlock-based. What we struggled with most was the large number of red herrings and the fact that many puzzles felt trial and error driven rather than logic based, plus it was none linear. This made it hard to read what was relevant, what could be safely ignored and what went with what, which led to growing frustration. We didn’t manage to finish on time and left feeling a bit disappointed. The owner mentioned a success rate of around 50%to 60%, and that this is the harder of their two rooms, which aligns with our experience. Overall, this experience is best suited for its intended audience: families and local players with little prior exposure to escape rooms. More experienced players should be aware that the design and puzzle logic follow a very different standard than what they may be used to elsewhere.
