I usually enjoy Puzzle Effects, though this was not my fave room. It's extremely linear, which would have been more fun in a smaller group, but with 4+ people there's a decent amount of standing around since multiple puzzles can't be worked on simultaneously. I also *usually* enjoy the immersive clueing, such that the clues are triggered on a screen after a certain amount of unsuccessful time. The clues, however, are scripted and did not help us. When we asked for clarification from a game master, there wasn't anyone watching to provide assistance so we brute-forced it. The use of AI at Puzzle Effects is also getting distracting - nearly all imagery and videos are AI-constructed and it takes away from the human-constructed cleverness of many puzzles. Overall, would *probably* return to Puzzle Effects but would not recommend this room.

Thank you for visiting us again and for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry The Reel wasn’t one of your favorite rooms. The Reel is a linear game, and we understand that style isn’t for everyone. Each room can feel very different depending on its puzzles, pacing, and overall experience. We were most concerned to hear that you weren’t able to get helpful clarification from your game master. Our clues are not automatic—a game master monitors each game and sends clues as needed, including customized help when necessary. It sounds like we missed the mark during your visit, and we’ll address that with our team. We also wanted to clarify the use of AI in The Reel. The room, gameplay, and puzzles were created by our team several years ago. AI was used only for the ending-screen graphic and movie-poster artwork. We understand that people have different feelings about AI-generated artwork, and we appreciate hearing your perspective. Thank you again for coming back to Puzzle Effect. We hope your next experience with us is a better one.
