Escape room

My group was looking for a fun room and this room- The Halloween Version was out and heard amazing things. In the world of Scary/Horror themed escape rooms a common element that is used is a taser and I wanted to ensure we avoided this. I did call the owner and the owner was super kind and did inform me that they do not use tasers in this room and it's an escape room. While this is true, this is half false as I had invited a friend of mine that was scared to death of Tasers due to past history, and even the sound of it paralyzes her. The live actor version- the actor does in fact carry a stun pen- not a taser but the cackle sound made it enough for her to not do well in the room and said it ruined the experience. I did assure her that she would not get shocked, but the sound of pen was still paralyzing enough. None of us did get shocked but I felt horrible for my friend. If you do not have a fear of electricity- this is a great room! I had no issues with the puzzles- there is a ton of puzzles, and for it to be a 60 minute room..... it makes sense why 4 is the minimum. The actor being in the room slows you down for sure and I do wish it was a 75 minute room at minimum so we could enjoy the puzzles and the actor. Now keep in mind- this room isn't an escape room. Your job is to catch 13 ghosts that are captured by the demon. Much like other rooms, you try to do as much as you can. I wasn't aware but that's on me. We didn't catch many ghosts due to the live actor being in the room with the pen and it was alarming for my friend to even engage in that room. Puzzle wise- amazing, set design- great use of space and the game master was friendly. Unfortunately I did leave this room disappointed with the taser pen even being in the room even after I called the owner about it (Yes it wasn't used, but we didn't event want anything like that hence why I called to ask). The second part is I wish we had more time to explore and engage especially with the live actor handicapping your time. Even though the game is considered "Expert" it's due to the live actor which can act as a time suck at times. I even asked how many folks even completed all the ghosts and the game masters informed me that no players have done it. The game itself without the actor is hard at 60 minutes. I recommend you have at least 6 players to play the live actor version. The puzzles are fair from what I saw. I still think the 13th room the Silence did it better with the amount of proportioned puzzle. As I said, Expert difficulty doesn't mean you put an actor to scare you with already a low pass rate. Amazing room, but it's really a minimum of a 75 minute room with a live actor.

I wish we would have played this game without the live actor. There is sooo much to do that the actor doesn’t really add to the room more takes away. The puzzles themselves are great for larger groups that want to spread out. The live actor element is taken from The Silence in 13th room, so it wasn’t unique or really feeling like it was intentional. More like an after thought of someway to add some additional scare to a room for the Halloween season but the room still had its normal jump scare triggers active.
